Hello my name is :Tariq Owens

That's your opinion. We aren't going to win many this year, but if we are playing with intensity, passion and aggressivemess, it's easier to watch for some of us because we respect the effort on the court and sidelines of an underdog and they got you out of your seat a few times. It's sports and entertainment. Not freaking life and death.
I gurantee you it''ll be more entertaining than 2.5 of the last 3 years of mediocre ball that kept fans from coming and many more fans than we can count just stopped flat out watching UT play. Yes he'll be judged on wins but if you are going down, swinging is the only way and just because you lose a game doesn't really mean you played passive, bad and boring basketball.

I agree with this. We are more than likely going to have a rough season, I'd rather be entertained in the process. Just like I did Zo I'll give CDT a pass on the first year. Year 2 things change for me though, we should make the tourney. IMO

Winning typically means...winning.

I doubt coaches or players view it this way. Missing the tourney is a letdown no matter how many regular season wins. It should be considered a disappointment. It tells me that this particular team didn't win enough of the big games, and probably had a few embarrassing losses.

Yeah I agree.....any season that does not end in a tourney bid is a failure. I really want a coach that builds a solid, strong program. I hope CDT is the man.

I didn't say if they lose it's passive, bad and boring basketball...what I said was that winning is what I find most entertaining. I would much rather win a game 54-52 than lose a game 92-89. I have had this same opinion for a long time, and while many may not feel the same, it is how I feel on the topic, winning is much more fun/entertaining than losing in an exciting manner IMO.

Both of the previous 2 coaches took over teams projected to do very little in Year 1, and overachieved which was very entertaining to me, I'm hoping the 3rd coach does the same.

I love football, but basketball will always be my favorite sport. I miss the excitement the basketball team had when Bruce was here. I really wish we could build both programs to where they are great. Living in Louisville heightens our struggles for me, these ****ers are good at literally everything.

Me too, being in the SEC gives me hope as it's so weak. I expect a middle of the pack finish, if we finish top 4 I'll be pleasantly surprised. I'm in the Zo overachieved year 1 camp, and I think that hurt him a little as crazy as that sounds.

I agree with you and have said the same thing, created a sense that the rebuild was gonna be much quicker than thought, and that 18-19 wins and NIT was the floor.

Beano talked about this the other day on TB. The best thing in sports for fans is a season with unexpected success.

It's great for the fans from an excitement standpoint, but probably not the best thing for coaches ultimately.

It depends on what u consider unexpected....I don't consider a season that doesn't include a tourney birth as being a great season with unexpected success. I look more at the overall foundation of the program and want a coach that wins and a strong recruiter. I can handle less wins in the beginning if his tenure if it looks like he is stockpiling talent.

has there been a single post by a poster saying they would rather lose and look good than win?

The way I take a post saying "we may lose more than we did the last 3 years but it'll be a hell of a lot more entertaining than the last 3 years"....is basically saying, it'll be more entertaining to play "fast pace" and exciting ball and go 15-15 than it was to score in the low 60s and go 18-12.

2.5 years was bad ball and we didn't play winning ball. You talk about 18 games but half were wins over:

Unc Greensboro
ULM
Chaminade
UNC Asheville
ETSU
Citadel
Nooga
aub
lsu

15 wins or 18 wins gets us nowhere I want to go, so yes in that instance, I'll enjoy watching an overachieving and fun to watch team vs an underachieving and boring team

quoting for bto. He keeps asking me my point, and talking about preferring losses over wins.
If the post above isn't clear, somebody help him out.

In case it wasn't clear, I agreed with most of that post, this is where I didn't and where I got the impression of boring winning/fun losing...

If we aren't winning, then no, to me it is not more entertaining, simple as that. You admit in that same post we aren't going to win very many games, likely less than the last couple years is the impression you give, to me no matter how many points we score, less wins = less entertaining.

Now maybe I'm the only one that feels that way, that's fine, but to me winning is what's most entertaining.

I posted that it would be more entertaining than it was for 2.5 of the last 3 years and it's really self explanatory.
What may be the difference is what you consider good and fun basketball compared to what I view. Up until the run to the sweet 16, outside of a few games over almost 3 years, we were boring and weren't winning like we should've. We were hard to watch and people stopped coming and watching by the 100's and 1000's..
I don't expect that to happen and will be disappointed if it does. Extremely disappointed.

He didn't say anything about points in his post. He talked about intensity, passion, and aggression. Lots of times we would come out extremely flat and take a loss under Martin. We would play lackadaisical on offense and soft on defense.

I'm more okay with taking a loss if the guys come out with some fire like we did in our tourney run. If we're going to take a loss I would rather they play guts out and then if a team gets hot and beat us I at least can take comfort in the fact that we played as hard as we could.

Absolutely, but the insinuations of going 15-15 next year will be more fun than 18-12 I disagree with...just me.

I didn't mention liking losing pretty more than winning ugly. Nor did I mention points. Or bad losses, or Pearl. No wonder the point wasn't clear.
