HC options

Cheek eats boogers but hates CBP...CBP hates Cheek for good reason... CBP isn't coming back to UT unless it is with another team that will kick our arssses. How the hell Booger Eater still has a job at our Uni is unbelievable to me... How does a man who eats a booger on natl TV keep his job running our University is beyond me.

It is amazing.

"Patty cake, patty cake, Booger Man. Pick you a booger and hold it in your hand. Roll em up, roll em up, eat it if you can."

I think Phil Jackson owns property in East TN and he was a huge fan of Ott's BBQ.

Just sayin'.

Y'all Bruce Pearl isn't coming back if he did that would mean the Unniversity of tennessee would just have a big bullseye on our back to the NCAA and they will investigate us for a long time

Like we already don't. NCAA picks on the weak. Strong AD's simply tell them to F off. We have a weak AD.

Bump.

I've defended Martin and thought that he should be given 3 years to gauge the results. Well, I don't think the results are acceptable for Tennessee's basketball program. My list is below.

Realistic Candidates:
Ben Howland
Lawrence Frank
Pitino Jr.
Jim Crews (St. Louis)

Fantasy Candidates:
Shaka Smart
Gregg Marshall

The best attainable coach for the Vols is CBP. However, the Administration (namely Cheek) would have to get out of the way for it happen or be threatened will ouster. He would jump at the chance to coach here again.

Ainge mentioned on his show today that Cheek has flipped. He's open to the idea, and it's basically in Hart's corner. Not sure what changed...it'll be interesting to hear when it comes out.

But, why do you think he'd jump at he job?

Cheek flipped because Hart probably told him about all the heat he was getting from boosters.
Bruce has to have noticed the outpouring of love from the fans, that makes it hard to turn down.

I mean if he does get rehired it's because of the fans. So why wouldn't he wanna come back to all this love. If they offer (which I hope they don't) there's no doubt in my mind that he would accept

I've stated this before and I'll say it again. UT historically has gone the route of up and comers and rarely established head coaches. I'd say that we would do the same if we were in a position to hire a new coach. Realistically, I'd see us have some names on the list that would turn us down, but then there would be a few realistic names come up.

Note, I'm not saying these are the guys that I would necessarily want, but these are guys I think would be high on the radar. These are guys that are mid-majors, but have all been to the tourney at least twice.

1. Donnie Tyndall (Morehead and Southern Miss)- very good year this year and had exciting Morehead teams of the past
2. Brett Reed (Lehigh)- not having a great year so far, but consistently god over the years
3. Tim Cluess (Iona)- great record every year at Iona

This will be D. Hart's first UT basketball hire...right? Historically mistorically....he may be a Pearl backer.

With all the buyout money the university is dishing out and with what we'd have to pay CCM, we'd have to go mid-major anyway. Do we have the means to go big? Absolutely. But Butch wasn't everyone's first choice. If we aren't ponying up for football, I doubt we'd do so for basketball.

I don't think we will be hiring a new coach anytime soon. Not till after next year. I just don't think the AD will pull the trigger after this season. Here is my top 3.

1. Petrino jr.
2. Howland
3. Will Wade (assuming this is after next season. He's going to be a great coach. Will have UTC dancing this year and next IMO. Will also be a cheap hire.)

CA, I've been impressed with Wade. I used to live in Chatt and still follow the team. What he's done with the mess Shulman left has been incredible. He's also a guy that recruits his system as well. Exciting brand for sure. UTC may be a stepping stone for him. Unless he makes a deep run in the tourney, I think most ADs would wait for year 3 results.

Honestly I think he would jump because we were the only University that offered him a major college job coupled with the fact that he is still in Knoxville. Is CBP a snake charmer - probably but he can flat out coach basketball and I think he loves Tennessee because we gave him his shot a the possibility of big-time basketball,

How much media attn - good and bad - would Tenn and CBP receive if came back. It would be unreal!!! How much did Vol fans love CBP before and how much would he be embraced when he took us back to the NCAAT for the next 6 years - 12 years - 15 years??? It would be awesome and he would never leave us except for retirement.

It is simple really - you hire CBP again he is ours for life - bball was awesomely fun under CBP and awesomely boring under CCM - nuff said.....

the best attainable coach UT can get is Ben Howland. You know, they guy with three final 4s. that's a little better than one elite 8. Howland would coach circles around BP

I wonder if Dooley were still coaching in front of a packed stadium, if Hart would have pulled the plug last year. Attendance was really bad for most of 2012.

he did cut Dooley off at the knees,it will be interesting to see what he does with the basketball team,of course it may be a finical thing that keeps CCM here longer,on that i will be honest and say I have no idea
