HBO's "Game of Thrones"

New teaser trailer. Possibly the dumbest thing I have ever seen. Most of the GoT fanbase seems pretty unhappy about it

I don't see the big deal - the tag line is about their world (not shown) returning to ours (shown).

Seems reasonable to me.

I think it's because it's misleading. It leads people who have never seen the show to think GoT is some kind of show about merging old-time knights and swords days with our modern day world. And adding that song to was way too "true blood, HBO-ish"

...that song will herald a pretty big moment in the season to come.

I was not aware there was any connection between that song and the plot line. That's interesting. I remember they played it once at the end of an episode last season and I didn't understand it

I will once the show is done. I prefer the "wow" factor of things like Ned Starks death on TV rather the the "wow" factor of reading it in a book.

Normally, I suppose I would too. But know you're missing a lot of little subtleties that don't translate into the show for whatever reason. The story in the show is great, but the story in the books is much, much better.

I would agree on the books, isn't it almost always that way? I can't think of many movies that were better than the book. I think much of my experience with book to movie conversions leave me asking questions as to why certain things were excluded or wondering why the series or movie added things that weren't originally within the book. I suppose on certain occasions it would be a different experience to watch the series first before reading the book and then compare the two. I've rarely done this, True Blood might be the only exception.

I don't think it is. I know a lot of things I enjoy visualizing better, like Harry Potter (kiddish example). Then there are interesting instances where the books and movies/shows are both so great I struggle to compare the two and kind of let them stand as their own awesome, awesome works (LotR).

Purposely not reading above post ^ but please delete if you're naming off things that haven't yet happened in the show. This is a thread regarding the show. There is a Song of Ice and fire thread for book discussion.

March can't get here quick enough...

at least we'll have the walking dead to tide us over

The Dog(Hound) is afraid of dying alone.

Ned died because he was to honorable and Joffrey was a little *****.

Ned was too honorable - honor gets your head on a spike in this series!
