Agreed. Going after him if he voluntarily enters the portal is one thing. Poaching him after Lanning alerts you to the shopping trip verses poaching Nico...is a bad look. Plus, we won't have to wipe your tears for GT losing their QB at the last minute.
In this environment, did we know Nico reached out to Oregon? Do we know if anyone reached out to Nico?

There's a table and things go on under it in college football and always have and always will.

We can't know if anyone we get "voluntarily" entered the portal.

Getting ready to find out if my adult stomach can eat as much Varsity before a GT football game as I did in my teens without there being consequences.
lol.....It's worth whatever indigestion may follow.
We eat at The Varsity either before or after most every game we attend.

Why would you have to wait on a game to eat at the Varsity?

Gimme that burger and onion rings any day of the week. Gotta be downtown though. The Athens location has never had the same feel or taste as the original.

And God forbid you're not ready to spit your order back as fast as your called up. lol..Truly a classic place.

Crazy how good Jim Chaney was at QB evaluation. Hendon Hooker and Haynes King were his guys. Lot of bad stuff to say about the Pruitt era, but Chaney was never the problem. Always thought his hands were tied by Pruitt's outdated offensive philosophy.
People forget just how explosive our offense was under him once he had an experienced Tyler Bray. If Justin Wilcox doesn’t take the Cal job and we don’t get stuck with Sunseri we’re playing in a BCS bowl in 2012. He also tricked the NFL into thinking Nathan Peterman was an NFL caliber QB

I just don’t see why Avery Johnson leaves Kansas State. Makes zero sense to me unless it’s just a money play where we double his NIL, but didn’t we just walk through a situation where we had a guy who was only here for the money side of it?
Nico was actively looking for more money or was threatening to make a lateral or backwards move to another program. Avery Johnson isn’t shopping around as far as we know and would be going from a program in a conference that may not exist in 5-10 years to a program that’s averaged 10 wins a year in what is essentially a AA League for the NFL. He would also be playing for a coach that’s sent 7-8 QBs to the NFL in his career. He’s likely not coming here since Kansas State was likely he dream school growing up and he likely didn’t take a dime (in comparison to what other QBs have gotten paid since he signed) to go there. If he is a QB that believes though (which I’m sure he does) in his ability and wants to play at the highest level in college football and have an easier path to the NFL than where he’s at and gets paid significantly more money to play here than Kansas State I don’t see how he wouldn’t at least consider betting on himself

Avery is a pipe dream and he’s be a fool to leave KSU to come here…and this is coming from a lifelong Knoxville native and die hard vol

Even before there was any Nico drama publicly anyway, both Hubbs AND AP both said that Jake has improved dramatically and that he has much better power and accuracy on his throws since Halze changed his throwing motion and how he grips the ball. Hubbs said Jake put a lot of work into tweeking those...especially gripping the ball differently than he had his whole life. This was in separate interviews btw. Jake was an Elite 11 QB coming out of HS just like Nico and Gmac. Could have gone anywhere he wanted to...

I think Jake starts all year unless he gets hurt. We bring in a QB to compete with Gmac for QB2. Probably a junior or senior. Hopefully we spend that $2M+ thats freed up to grab another WR, DTackle and maybe a Corner as well. G0 VOLS

Well, in that case, I’ve got a year of eligibility left and I’m waaaay older than King. I’ll pick up this offense in two shakes of a stick. Of course, these days I run about 7.5 40, throw the ball about 40 yards if my shoulder doesn’t get dislocated in the process and I’ll do it all for the low, low price of a year supply of Buc-ees brisket sammiches.
Oh yeah, I run the 7.5 in 40, so what ya think now?...

KState is plenty enough school for him to have a good path to NFL. He's a premium product anywhere. If you can play QB, they will find you. 7 NFL QB's from G5 or FCS saw the field as starters at some point in the 2024 season.

27 td’s and 16 int.’s is a terrible ratio in todays game with all of the screen passes and behind the line passes (glorified running plays).

I know it don't mean much and it's a small sample, but looked really bad at the O&W game. We'd be better off taken a proven qb to make it through this session and keep momentum going.

I know Heupel will get a pass no matter what this season, but by the end of the season recruits will have forgotten about the qb situation and judge us based off finish, mtl.

Watching Haynes play last year against Georgia was like watching old school football. He left it out on the field and was the definition of a leader. You could just tell he loved the game and his teammates. I'd love to have that. That's what CF is missing right now... heart.

I think there's not enough voltaran gel in all of Walmart to make those dreams come true. 😄I guess anybody can Toby Keith it if they had to. "May not be good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was." I'll start putting the ice in the tub. 👍🏼

Haynes is rated higher than any QB on Bama, Georgia or Florida per the new 150 Best College Football player list released by CBS. He is listed at #56 and DJ Lagway for Florida is #57.

I’m not saying he can’t get to the NFL there. I’m just saying he would have an easier path to the NFL in the SEC
