"Have some damn class."

An embarrassment? Did his team win or lose? And did our coach lose a 17 point lead? To the victor goes the spoils. If we win like we should have would this be a story? No!

If we came back and won a game like OU did, and one of our players went taunting the fans and flipping them off, you wouldn't think he's an embarrassment to our school? You'd be proud? Win with class and act like you've been there before.

I've never seen anything like that in my life. Their "celebration" was ridiculous

We stormed the field and dug up part of the goal line after the miricle at southbend. Such a bitter loss, that as a program we have to get past, learn from it and know that it is completely unacceptable to allow it to ever happen again. It starts with coaching but the players have got to be mature enough to say when they need help with their assignments on the field, so adjustments can be made. I still say,
GO VOLS! RUN the TABLE!

That would have been the proper way to handle it. What do you suggest? From your post in the other thread about it, Jones should show he's got some balls right?

First of all, the only "quote" regarding what Jones' said (that I've seen) came from the mouth of the player that screamed "F the SEC", among other things, to our fans and recruits after the game. A player from the team that ran straight to the Power T in Neyland Stadium and stomped and danced to celebrate their win.

I didn't suggest anything. I just don't have a problem with Jones telling him good job, now show some class.

Freaking Fracking Sour Grapes on our part. Such horse crud. Effing hate that we (well BVtch) even bothered to respond to this kid celebrating after we printed his words and posted all over the locker room

If an opposing coach said something to one of our players, especially after that coach had made the player the center of our bulletin board all week, we would be raising hell. We complained when Muschamp made a remark about our fans last year- it's much worse addressing a player. Butch should have kept his mouth shut. If you're a big enough boy to single out a player during the week, you better be ready to shut him up during the game or look like an idiot. Guess which one Butch did?

So you wouldnt have a problem with an opposing coach giving tips on being classy to one of our players on the field? This place would be in an uproar if it happened to one of our own.

Coaches say things to opposing players all the time. Striker was acting like a fool before Butch said something directly to him. Then Striker repeats it to the media... Butch didn't call him out.

Muschamp called out UT fans in the media. Apples and bananas.

I would be more pissed at our player acting like a you know what.

Striker and the bird flipper guy are direct reflections of their coach. Like school on Saturday...no class! Butch should have left it alone but he was pissed he got out coached. Striker is a punk yelling at fans. Like wrestling...

Good GRIEF....act like ya been there before!

GBO!!!

Striker is a buffoon. If Stoops had any class he wouldn't allow that crap out of his players.

But an opposing coach has no business riding a player about "class", especially not in that way and in that situation.

I was defending Striker but keep hearing more and more bout an asst coach with him targeting out visiting recruits and taunting the recruits on to play for OU..

Thought this was pretty funny, but I'm sure Butch will get ripped for it. I agree with the sentiment, but I'm not sure about the timing.

thought it was fantastic. The football field is to the place to forget about class. Another example of a coach who sis unable to control his players. I guess that respect to be taught to players before they are seniors in college. I just hate to se players make fools of themselves and their University. Come on Stoops, get control of you players.

Muschamp wasn't responding to one of our players cussing the crowd and flipping the crowd off--if you can't see the difference it's because you don't want to see the difference.

an opponent honestly gives his opinion and he's classless? I don't get that at all. I understand using it as motivation, but I never thought an opposing player was "classless" by giving an opinion on my talents.

You people are just like Alabama fans....EXACTLY. I think what most people around the country despise is the tendency for the SEC schools defending each other, but actually it all does make sense now. It's a mob mentality.

Kinda pathetic guys.

You have a pretty decent team and I'll guarantee you that UT will bounce back from this. Good luck the rest of the year. You all will be just fine.

This will be my last post.

I haven't meant to offend anyone on this board, so if I have, I apologize.

PS, Hatari Byrd should be suspended for his actions.

All that being said, are you proud of the way Striker acted after the game?

Bottom line is what many people have said. Bad coaching or bad execution it doesn't matter we scored 17 points and failed to score again the rest of the game. We continued to run a defense out there time and time again (which did incredibly well for itself most of the game)with little to no rest. We had excellent field position for most of the night that we couldn't capitalize on.

I was absolutely pissed at this kid at the end of the game for his actions but then I realized I was more disappointed at our team for not finishing the job they started.

Striker is a complete classless idiot for his actions no doubt but the way you handle it is not to have a meltdown and allow a team to come back and beat you in your own house. If you don't want people acting classless in your place then you load them back onto their transportation with their tails whipped. We failed to do it and now we move on.

No idea what was said and even to whom, but he definitely ran up to a player who was acting a fool and grabbed him by the shoulder pads and said something briefly.

Not if one of our players was acting like a complete ass like Striker was.

The poster I responded to said, "He could have said something to Stoops however." And you say I'm ridiculous because I don't think that makes sense. Got it.

Coaches talk to each other all the time and because someone says something you disagree with doesn't mean they lack "balls".

And believing Jones could have handled things differently is in no way defending Striker.

I know emotions are running high and tempers are as well. But I don't think Butch saying something to the OU player was a good idea. He can easily reach out to Stoops the following day and discuss the matter after everybody had enough time to reflect on everything.

Thankfully nothing happened. It could have gotten ugly and I can promise you Butch would be getting blasted by the media if a nasty brawl happened.

I probably would have done what Butch did, but it's never a good idea.

Good lucking getting these points across to some of the folk on here.

Sure you wouldnt......every damn person on this board would throw a fit.....and rightfully so. A Head Coach...or any staff member should never confront an opposing teams player on the field to address his lack of class.

Styker is defenseless in this situation.....doesn't make what Jones did right or even remotely smart

Jones should not care what Striker does... Worry about your own team
