Harrison Bailey: Is he benefitting from exceptional talent around him? Or is he the real deal?

Why do I get the feeling the OP just likes to troll? Just go watch his video and make up your own mind.

What did I say that is trolling? What is wrong with you? Do you not have any sense of your tone when you post? It’s condescending and annoying. You’re not here for discourse. You’re here to be obnoxious, so go annoy someone else.

Harrison Bailey is going to be very good. I live in Atlanta and everybody has been talking about him being like Trevor Lawrence. Late in the season, he threw a lot more screens which did not show off his ability as much. But he can make all the throws, already well-built, has some running ability, and he’s a clear winner.

Yes. He definitely benefited from great players around him, but he is a great player too. He led Marietta to a State Championship in GA, which is crazy hard to win in GA.

Correct. I'm here for chaos and am just counting the seconds before Freak bans me. Have a good night buttercup.

I don’t follow recruiting as much as many of the folks on here.

I saw a fan of another school on Reddit’s CFB forum say that Harrison Bailey isn’t as good as advertised and that he has benefitted from D1 talent playing with him.

I looked into it and was disappointed to find out well over half his offensive production was to two main targets: one being a 6’5 250 lb 5* tight end recruit going to LSU. The other WR was committed to Michigan State.

I haven’t watched any film or anything.

Should we be worried?
Tells me he and his coaches know how to get the ball to the playmakers.

What kind of defensive talent is he playing against?

He played in the highest classification in Georgia all year. P1 players on the field pretty much in opposition every time he took the field. It's not like Marietta has been a powerhouse on the state level annually like some programs, they just got really good when this crew showed up.

Not at all. I’m sure Peyton, Brady, and Drew B would become average without exceptional talent at WR and TE. It takes talent at both ends of the ball. Great WR’s and TE’s become average with a crappy QB. Bailey’s team won the state championship because he’s a great HS QB, his top WR’s were great, his Oline protected him well, I’m sure he had a very good RB, and teams D was really good. It’s a team sport.

I hope he is the guy but I have this nagging voice in my head that's saying I hope he practices well and shows out during the spring
So the nagging voice is telling you what you’re hoping?

I watched Marietta play 6 games last year. They played in Georgia's highest classification (and won the championship) and played 2 out of state teams that were in the USA Today's top 25. They also played a state champion from Washington state (and HB threw 7 TDs in the first half. If that does not put the icing on the cake, try this - HB has the 4th highest High School career passing yards in the state of Georgia behind Watson (Clemson), Lawrence (Clemson) and Fromm (Georgia). And HB missed 6 games as a sophomore due to an injury. I suggest everyone wait till the spring game. There will be no question left as to who starts at QB in 2020. Vol Nation is going to be in for a ride. GO VOLS.

I'm referring to the talk all season of JG practicing so well and him getting so many chances because of it. I will roll with whoever but qb play has to be better next year to get to the next step.

Welcome, and I appreciate the write-up but there is nothing I would or could see in a Spring game that would make me feel one way or another about a player. One year Jacob Carter was the next coming of Fred Biletnikoff and another Tyler Bray went 3-30 or something crazy.

I hope HB balls out because the "next" guy is always THE guy when the current guy isn't setting the world on fire.

It’s a two way street.

We just have to hope the guys making the big bucks properly evaluated his talent. Guess we’ll find out soon enough though.

HarryBay will probably be royally great. However, the proof is in the pudding, and as yet no one knows the pud's recipe let alone how it'll look, smell, or taste. Though it seems the oven is already preheated. Only on VN, man, only on VN.

Could he flame out? Sure, look at all the top nfl/nba/mlb drafted players that have flamed out.
HB has been consistently very good for some time now so I think we have enough data to indicate that his chance of being very good in college is very good. But he might slip on ice next week, god forbid, and hurt his throwing arm.
My advice is to relax and look forward to some exciting football in a few months. Stay positive!!!
