Hammered on ESPN

Currie is a lame duck AD now and no coach will want to work for a lame duck AD especially at Tennessee......fire Currie and start over:banghead2:

The search for an AD was really mishandled. UT left Blackburn, a true Vol, hanging while they ran all over the country looking at Haslam's boys. By the time they called David he told them to shove it. He doesn't hate UT, he loves it enough not to be caught up with our incredibly stupid administration. My stars, CPF would have been far better than Currie... at least he loves UT.

Clean house and start over.

Booger McFarland and Mike Golic took the UT fans to the woodshed this morning. Booger said no coach would want the job now unless its a lower level assistant.

If Alabama had followed DuBose, Franchione, and Shula with the likes of Greg Schiano, the Bammer fan base would have reacted no differently than the Tennessee fan base is right now.

But this is why Bama is Bama and Tennessee is Tennessee.

Bama followed up DuBose, Franchione, and Shula with Nick MFn Saban.

We followed up Kiffin, Dooley, and Jones with Greg MFn Schiano.

This is why we are who we are, and this is why we can't have nice things.

Currie is solely responsible for this. I guarantee Currie did not vet Schiano in the least bit because they are buddies. Dan Patrick is also going off on us. He said, "If ESPN or Ohio State had no problem hiring him then who are YOU, Tennessee, to say no?" What a joke. I'm sure Urban Meyer had no problem with anything. Same guy protected Aaron Hernandez and lied to others about him. The blood of (at least) three people is on your hands Urban! You're absolutley right Schiano is unacceptable at Tennessee. Tennessee cannot afford to hire a leader of our football program that has these types of negative connotations associated with him. Whether it is true or not, don't put our University in a position where competing coaches tell parents of recruits about this. That would be absolute insanity. Currie was about to open us up to that. He should step down immediately for the good of the University. Healing cannot begin with him at the helm.

Why should we have to settle for Greg Schiano, who were they to tell us who we have to support and don't support? Do we not live in a free Society where we get to pick and choose who we want to back what team we don't want to back?
Why should I have to support a team that I don't agree with? They have the right to hire who they want but I have the right to choose not to support them!
They made a wise decision to back off Schiano!!!
This is not a communist country where we have to do everything we're told!! It seems like ESPN wants to run everything, news media FYI overstep their bounds and are out of control even Sports media!

Penn St will never recover, lol and Tennessee won’t

I wish I could like this about a THOUSAND times.

If the university the ACTUAL SCANDAL OCCURRED AT can be relevant again in 5-7 years since the story broke, then the University of Tennessee with its "spoiled brat" fanbase that just wants to win and not settle for mediocrity and controversy will be JUST FINE with the right man leading the way.

XM said the same but went after Currie too saying why did he think he was a good fit both as coach and culture fit.

The only name that wouldn’t think twice is Tee Martin. He just interviewed for the Ga Southern job so he is being looked at for HC positions.
Tee Martin would most likely be Wade Houston, Part 2. Good recruiter but USC has not thrived under him as a coach...........plus his wife has her career to think about.

He would not come here as an assistant so why take him as the HC.

I agree with boogar and mike.. who gonna want to take this job? I told yall before get a Tennessee guy people thought I was stupid now what other choice you got..

So dumb Greazy. Schiano was an awful choice. There are a lot of very good candidates who would come here without the baggage. No offense, but you’re a Miami fan, stick with that, you don’t get Tennessee and likely never will.

They are correct, no coach who is scared of the spotlight would take Tennessee's job. Too many coaches want a school, players and a fan base that will take whatever b.s. they want to toss out, with no questions asked. Most Tennessee fans are fed up with b.s. leadership and are holding the appropriate people accountable. I do not want a coach that is scared of accountability!

All this wining about a scaring a coach is just more leverage a potential coach has in contract negotiations. Stop the wining about scaring a coach, it is borderline un-American.

BTW, Chip Kelly running to UCLA has nothing to do with being a west coast guy, he is afraid of the spotlight. Good thing, he could have been very successful at Flawda.

People still watch ESPN? Why? Genuinely I'm curious why anyone would voluntarily watch anything on ESPN that isn't a sporting event? With the rate they're laying off people there won't be an ESPN to watch in 5 years. And who out there honestly cares what Mike Golic or Booger McFarland has to say? There are things in this world to worry about but their opinions do not fall remotely close to that category

Truth hurts. We are only going to get scraps now.

BS knee jerk reaction. You don’t know what you’re talking anout as usual. Fact is, Schiano was a scrap and was only gonna be hired here because of his connection with Jimmy Haslam.

We dodged a major bullet yesterday thanks to a fan base who fought back and said ENOUGH! The idiots in our administration better get their ish together and go get a quality coach. There are plenty good coaches who will come here.

Oh yeah, the OVC has plenty of assistant coaches who could use a few million a year for 3-4 years.

Prime example of why the UT Clown show is front and center. Just ridiculous unfounded statements. How can you down a guy for wanting to put himself and family in the best position...career wise. Obviously, his decision was a good one at that time. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy! Pure buffoonery!! Who would be on your list at this point?

Ratings is taking ESPN to the woodshed. They are out of touch with reality. Let them say what they want.

THIS^^^^

Who gives a rodent's derrierre what anyone on this joke of a network has to say?

In a few years they'll be just a distant memory, people are dropping cable faster and faster in favor of various cord cutting options.
They're going to have to drastically downsize their operation soon, look for SEC, Big 10, PAC 12 networks, and likely very little national ESPN options.
As fast as they're fading, even that might not pan out.

As a lifelong fan of nearly 50 years, I've never been prouder of the Vol Nation.
Screw ESPN.

Doesn't matter what the media says either positive or negative. Only thing that counts is the thoughts within the coaching fraternity. We'll either find out we're a hands off toxic environment or a respected program.

We already are "hands off and toxic" within the coaching fraternity. The reason is that these coaches talk amongst themselves and dislike booster,(Haslam specifically), trying to control decision making, mainly hiring assistants. In the NFL a coach answers to a GM, only or expects it to be that way. In college, a coach expects to answer to an AD, only. Any good coach, looking at UT is going to check out the pecking order and associate Haslam with the Browns and one of two things will happen. 1. "Thanks, but no thanks." 2. The coach is gonna ask for an astronomical salary for all the BS.

This is and will continue to be UT's major problem. Haslam is the very reason Currie is our current AD. All Vol fans who follow close enough expected D.Blackburn to be the logical choice followed by Fulmer who has little experience as an AD.

There are rumors that many UT boosters are very fed up with Haslam's antics and are trying all kinds of "ways" to put a stop to it. This in house fighting is hurting UT's football program which is the schools bread and butter. The truth is it can get worse before it get's better. The highest ranking UT official without ties to Haslam has to intervene or the majority of boosters who are aware of what is really going on need to pull together and put an end to this in house fighting. It's very sad that these men don't care. The fans have a voice in this matter. It would be good to see the fanbase unite, identify the true problem, and do something in the best interest of the student/athletes who are being impacted negatively by this ongoing, immature fiasco.
