Currie is a lame duck AD now and no coach will want to work for a lame duck AD especially at Tennessee......fire Currie and start over:banghead2:

Booger McFarland and Mike Golic took the UT fans to the woodshed this morning. Booger said no coach would want the job now unless its a lower level assistant.

Here's the thing

I really do believe that Schiano's connection to Sandusky is just a straw man argument for why fans did not want him. If the "right guy" had the same history, we would have found the stomach to hire him. We look past morally unacceptable behavior (spouse/girlfriend abuse, DUIs, cheating) from friends and family that we would not accept from other people.

However,

We do not need to be lectured by Herbie Keisterbite, Booger, or Go lick about whom we will accept or for what reason we will accept them. We will be the judge of that!

Those political a holes at msespn would have pushed their left wing wacko narrative either way. Today they hammer UT for exposing a loser coach and pedo enabler. If he were hired they would hammer UT for hiring a loser coach and pedo enabler. msespn's story line has gotten old, that's why no one watches their crap any more.

Haslam wanted Schiano, espn thought we should hire Schiano.

Given the track record of both of those entities I'll take my chances with a different hire.

I usually only watch the football games on ESPN. I just wanted to see how the political left wing ESPN shows had to say about the whole situation and as usual I was correct.

ESPN's ratings are in the trash can because of their political stance IMO.

Forget finding he stomach to hire him. This fan base would've done Olympic level mental gymnastics to find ways to support and rationalize it.

No one around here knows whether he covered up anything ......

It’s not that he actively covered up anything, it’s that he simply did nothing.

Ultimately the guy wasn’t a fit here by any measure. His success at Rutgers was on par with Butch Jones success at CMU and Cinci. Oh and BJ beat him while in the Big East AFTER Schiano has built Rutgers up.

Why do we keep hiring coaches who lost to the guy we just fired?

The media is acting like we’re just mad with him as a coach and ignoring the rape issues

I honestly think it is a little bit of both. You have some TN fans that are screaming crying and protesting that support the current person in the white house and the guy in Alabama. So it is a little hypocritical to demand purity from a coach but not from an elected official. I was upset with the hire, that Currie did not get the best available person. The Penn State allegations, are just that, allegations.

Agreed. This was a lose lose situation for TN from the start.

So are you upset because he "knew" and did nothing or he is a horrible coach?

Did they hammer Ohio State for hiring him? I don't think so...

The sun will rise again, a coach will be hired, the the Vols football team will be fine. Overreactions will abound for a few week, then everyone will settle down.

Again my issues weren’t even the hearsay 3rd person account from PSU. I was upset because this was clearly Curries only option and the guy has a worse record than the guy we just fired coming out of the same conference. He also has many questionable characteristics and has too many questionable antics. The final straw was this was clearly haslams guy and was below the second tier of coaches being mentioned by the fan base. Honesty every time he was mentioned there wasn’t a single positive reaction from anyone here or any other media platform.

Schiano was being brought in to fine tune something’s beforw his second run in the NFL at the browns.

agreed on poor leadership.. who cares what espn thinks they have hated use for years and the only thing we can do is get a good coach and start winning and make them have to be two faced and act like they love us.. they're on the way down in ratings and probably why Gruden would even consider getting out now.

Gotta love the "If you don't support crucifying a man based off two decade old, second hand hearsay, then you support pedophilloa" narrative.

Right or wrong, the world we live in today considers perception to be at least as powerful as reality. We don't make the rules so don't pretend like your not part of it.

All that is true except for the vols football team being fine......

What fans took and ran with yesterday... thats not even substantial....
It was second hand hear say that Schiano turned white after seeing something....

That he denied.....

So it was actually I heard from someone who heard from someone that Schiano turned white....

And Tennessee fans turned that into he saw it happen and did nothing....

This has killed off Tennessee football for at least 15 more years.....

NO AGENT WILL LET A CLIENT TOUCH THIS JOB NOW.....

They may not be completely wrong. Currie should have vetted Schiano more prior to making an offer.

There are also many other good candidates or at any rate ones that are much better than Schiano.

It will be interesting to see what happens next.

With all these power 5 jobs open I can't wait to see who actually does hires Schiano. Oh wait it will be no one. Think about that for a moment.
