Played several games last night. Some of the most fun I've had in a shooter in a long time but I'm biased.

I keep seeing mixed reviews, including the ones on here. Would a Halo purist like it or no?

The Golden era of gaming. I can’t really tell if I think 2005-2010 was the true golden era or if it was just because those were my 10-15 years old range. But I mean Battlefield, Call of Duty and Halo simply didn’t miss back then. Every single game in that time frame from those franchises was awesome.

BF BC 2
BF 3

Call of Duty 4
Call of Duty World at War
Call of Duty MW2
Black Ops

Halo 2
Halo 3
Halo Reach


Not to mention the NCAA basketball and football games were both still kicking. Even 2K had a College Hoops 2k franchise.

Grand Theft Auto 4 and Red Dead Redemption…


And that’s literally just the big name titles. Saints Row was awesome back then, it was a great time to be a pre teen-teenager.

I hope they change this but I hate being forced to play objective modes. I hate objective modes playing solo, seems like 90% of the time I end up matched with people not actually playing the objective.

I’m hoping that it’s just because it’s a beta right now. I played 6 games so far and 3 were CTF my least favorite multiplayer mode.

Earning Recon armor in 3 was 1 of my prouder achievements as a young lad. With all the passes and micro transactions they have these days you can buy most anything you want. I miss the days of having the skill or putting in the time to earn something.

Played for an hour the other night. Halo 2 was probably the best I ever got at multiplayer and I loved it, but I didn't have a great time playing this. I'm mostly a big team slayer guy and that mode didn't make the rotation one time. I forgot that you have to melee to finish many of the kills and I'm not a big fan of that. Kept trying to just shoot people to death wondering why 47 bullets wasn't getting the job done. I also kept shooting left of everybody. These learning curves switching from shooter to shooter are too much for a dude about to be 40.

Try the sidekick pistol to finish people off. It will probably get nerfed but it is way strong right now.

I think I just got too old, but I didn't really enjoy it. Would much rather play Overwatch, I can make up for my lack of reflexes in it much better.

They start you with the assault rifle in big team and the BR in small team. It’s total backwards.

Halo 2 was about choke points and control sectors in the map and team work. This is all out battle royal with foliage and rocks and no long distance visuals. It’s not halo. It’s cal of duty rip off with shields.

I went back to playing 5.

The fact is 343 blows and Bungie peaked at Halo 1 because almost every halo 2 and 3 map was a recycled modified halo 1 map.

Atleast Battlefield tries.

You only start with a br in ranked arena matches.

I'll respectfully disagree with you about btb, it feels like halo to me. I wish it had br starts though.

I always played ranked halo because I felt it was a skilled game. I don’t mind twitch gaming but it gets monotonous after a while.

These big team maps though do not feel like old halo though as the old maps were very vehicle heavy and allowed a driving path for a warthog and were circular in nature. These are foliage heavy and not circular at all. It forced a team to focus on a warthog and placed a skilled grenade hit to roll it.

I like the mechanics and it plays smooth but the maps blow.
