They need to get Halo 2 remade for a 360 title, had the best online imo out of all of them.

I agree with this. IMO Halo 2 is the best online shooter ever, and the last big shooter where skill was everything. Before the days of trying to appeal to casual gamers by dumbing it down with stupid stuff like bubble shields, armor lock and jetpacks, there was Halo 2. If you should consistently 4-shot people with the BR and snipe relatively well, then you could be pretty good at this game, if not, you were screwed. That's not to say the most skilled players didn't also rise to the top in subsequent Halo games, just that there wasn't as much noobish stuff on the map to help the crappy players.

Halo 2's multiplayer was amazing. The maps were built around controlling certain areas amd making sure you had the high ground. So many tactis could be used.

That's really what the essence of Halo multiplayer has always been. It's about map control. (And being good with the BR) Unlike the COD series where you can choose your weapon loadout, in Halo everyone starts with the same guns, so it puts supreme importance on holding down certain areas and knowing spawn points and spawn times for the power weapons (rockets, shotty, sniper, sword) so you can tip the balance of the game in your favor. You can bunker down in a corner in Halo, but if you concede the rockets and shotgun to the other team, you're going to get screwed every time.

Speaking of skill, here's an old video from Halo 3 of some of the most impressive sniping skills I've ever seen. The guy pretty much just walks around killing people from across the map with a sniper rifle like it was a shotgun.

Hooray for making and buying the same games over again

Maybe by halo 6 or 7 we'll be remaking ODST and Reach

This.

It's humorous to me all these "HD remakes" coming out, which is just a way for companies to get people to buy (or re-buy) PS2 and Xbox games. I got the first Halo HD "remake" and it wasn't really anything special, so I'll likely pass on Halo 2.

Though I still think Nintendo is the king of the rehash.

I WILL buy this remake if it's open on XBL again...the original Halo2 can no longer be played on XBL...

You'll probably be disappointed. I was going to buy the Halo:CE anniversary edition until I found out that it was just a remake of the campaign having original Halo gameplay. The multiplayer maps from the original game were on there, but were basically just a map pack for Halo:Reach, with Reach-style multiplayer. If I could have had original Halo multiplayer online, I would have bought it in a heartbeat, but I have no need for more maps on which to play Reach's crappy multiplayer, it's the reason I quit playing Halo in the first place.

Ask and you shall recieve:

Halo 2 getting a HD Remake

Maybe not so fast

Update: Halo 2 HD Remake Not in the Works

Update: In a Q&A on Microsoft's ExpertZone retail-only training site, 343 confirmed that it is not currently working on Halo 2 Anniversary. When asked about the project, a 343 representative simply said "We are not working on that at this time. We are kind of busy."

Thanks to The Halo Council (via CVG) for the heads up.

Original story follows:

A new rumor suggests that 343 Industries is developing a Halo 2 Anniversary edition. According to the UK print edition of Official Xbox Magazine, "Following the success of remake Halo Anniversary, 343 Industries has now started development of Halo 2 Anniversary.”

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary hit stores last November and offered a full HD remake of the original game with added Kinect and online functionality in honor of its ten year anniversary. Halo 2 was originally released in November 2004, but Microsoft would presumably release the remake a year or two ahead of its ten year milestone.
We reached out to Microsoft for comment and a spokesperson told us “Our focus right now is on developing Halo 4. Beyond that, we do not comment on rumors or speculation.”

I loved Halo 2 when playing with friends. I had 52 inch LG tv that had a split screen setting. We would LAN two xboxs together and play 8 onone screen. I wasn't the best but held my own. It was a blast.

Then I tried it online. Got my ass handed to me quickly and often. Pretty much turned me off of online gaming. I've never had the time to devote to getting good enough to compete with the 14 year olds.

I agree, Halo 2 was incredible. Best mix of multiplayer maps ever made imo. Hell, the highest level I ever got to was 44 and I thought I was amazing. So much more fun than prestiging 50 times like in CoD. My favorite map was Terminal.

What didn't you like about it? Swat is and has always been my favorite match type. One shot to the head with a BR, and you're done.

Well I went ahead and got it again just to brush up a bit before 4. Looking forward to getting back into it since I am COD and BFd out.
