He did it to get the fans excited and to get some national exposure for the program. People who have always hated TN took it as offensive. And others who weren't involved found it amusing.

CUM, SPUR-UP-HIS-A##, and SATAN are just terrified of the potential of TN waking up could have on the competition in the SEC. TN will now be respected on the playing field and keep the reputation as the whistleblower of the conference to keep people from cheating to win!
