Had Kiffin Stayed

That was my first thought as well....what Ole Miss is facing would be NOTHING compared to the sewer we would be in! He was here one year too long. Would like to never hear his name mentioned again.

Well said. Sometime in the last few years, I was saying the same thing!😁 That's one season of Vols football, that I wish we could just erase from the books!

People forget that the NCAA was so hard after Kiffin that they uncovered the violations under Bruce Pearl while they were on campus investigating Kiffin.

Kiffin would have had us buried under the NCAA jail.

By the way, time has shown that he's not actually a great coach. He can develop college QBs, that's about it. And there's a lot more to being a college head coach than that. Remember that in the year he was here, we suffered embarrassing losses to UCLA, who was total garbage in 2009, and Auburn.

I couldn't say it any better myself. He's shown to be a good playcaller when he has a players like Reggie Bush and Derrick Henry.

He's not head coach material and never will be. He's dirty and when he doesn't have his leash on (Saban controlling his every move) he says some of the stupidest stuff. Remember him accusing Urban of a violation (he didn't know the rules himself). Remember the person he fired for being late to pick him up at the airport (he didn't, he was lying).

I laughed in disbelief when he was hired him and I still do when I think about it.

USC East, wildboys! I have to say these outlandish things to get us noticed because nobody wants to come to UT. Hostesses. A wasted recruiting class. Several players doing the perp walk. NCAA up our butt so far we had to hire a proctologist....Ahhh the memories.

It's amazing we actually hired a coach with 5 career wins to run our program. Side note-- I wonder who the last AD in the SEC was to hire back to back coaches with losing records?

Anyway, there's a reason this tool is at a no name school instead of somewhere like Houston.

I hope some day to hear about all the shenanigans Kiffin go into in Knoxville. Seems like he did enough dirty deeds to write a book about.

Instead of playing third down for what all of the men would have been taking their shirts off and waving them in the air.

You actually think the NCAA could touch Joey Freshwater. (Suppose to be blue font)

I'm pretty sure that Jalen Hurd would have started out as a tight end, like I thought he should.

UT would have won a National Title but also suffered so much probation, it could have possibly never had a program again.

Looking back UT pretty much had a self imposed death penalty through the Dooley years of pure suckassness. So, in hindsight, the only thing that didn't happen was Kiffin winning a title.

In other words, it may have been worth it, in the end......

Lane Kiffin's recruits for UT Vols fail to pan out | Times Free Press
Last summer, Rivals.com ranked Tennessee's '09 class as the most disappointing nationally in the past decade.

"I don't care who you are or where you are, you cannot have a class like that," longtime recruiting analyst Jamie Newberg said. "You can't have a bunch of kids to where a year or two later most are gone. Your roster is going to be depleted, and that's exactly one of the big reasons why Tennessee is in this situation right now."

Yeah, much better off.

I'm still ticked about that UCLA loss! He had those types of losses at SC.

How many of you were extatic when he was hired? Honestly, I wasn't.

Poor mattress! That thing flamed out quick too!

I really didn't know much about him, was more excited about Monte. I got pretty excited after allowing myself to be influenced by VN, lol. I'll support almost anyone as HC.

With so much uproar pertaining to the new AD hire and Butch's lack luster coaching the last two-three years, how do you, VN experts, think the program would be right now?

I think Hammy would still be here.

I think the football program would be much, much better off! Would have beaten Bama at least once in the past seven years. But, we would have still lost a game or two each year we should have won.

Would have had more talent on the roster. (More attrition also)

After his initial push to get Tennessee on the map by way of attention, there would be no more secondary violations. (Hamilton stated that CLK told him he was going to do things to get the UT name back out there)

There would be no shortage of incidents or stories to talk about.

And finally, one of you great posters would probably have a stepson named Knox right now!

I try very hard to respect all women! With that said, Jalen Hurd , please call your mother and tell her to let it go! It's over! This obsession with CBJ has got to stop! Everybody knows it's you! If you keep this up, I'll never get offered by Austin Peay!

If Kiffy had stayed, he'd been long gone by now looking for greener pastures.

Solid OP. Yes, an after 6 straight nattys, Hamilton would still be here and everyone on VolNation would finally come together in sweet unity. Well mostly.

Don't know where we would be by now.
I do know he would have had to quit saying we were going to learn how and be USC east. That, for me, was a big slap in the face. I have never wished for one dam- thing coming out of So. Cal. ( the whole state for that matter) to be passed on to UT or our state and whole southern part of the country for that matter.

You took the words out of my mouth. Just look at what's happening in Oxford. If Kiffin had stayed we'd be in the exact same boat.

Actually, we would be looking at what Ole Miss is going through, and envying them. What hasn't been mentioned yet is the job opportunities the team would have created just on the strip. A few more incidents like the armed robbery at the pilot, and Cumberland Avenue might have garnered federal funding to maintain a visible 24 hour police presence. Tennessee could have been the first college football team with a parole officer on it's staff.
