No
That being said, he would probably be a huge upgrade as to what we have now. Maybe if he came financially to our advantage

No.

I think Gus is the offense side to Pruitt (although somewhat better)...more suited to be a coordinator than a HC.

Absolutely. Not sure any coach in America could done any better at Auburn at this time. Auburn has some misguided idea they’re equal to Alabama. They’re not. Neither is LSU, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia. Certainly not right now.

Hell yes but I honestly think he's going to be on some beach enjoying his life and mega buyout money and flipping off the entire college football world for awhile....Who can blame him!?

Of course this means no Freeze, et al.

The only reason people cry for Freeze is because he beat Saban twice. Gus has done it 3 times. If we get Gus, the logic of the Freeze fangirls goes out the window. Oh Gus has actually done something with wins vs Saban won the division and conference. Something Freeze has failed to do even with a head start in back to back seasons

Wouldn’t be my first choice but I would be ok with it.

I think most rational people would agree he’s an upgrade over Pruitt.

More serious note though. Gus is interesting because he was paired up with a top DC in Steele. Steele really improved Auburn’s defense.

Gus’ downfall has been finding a QB in each class or every other year. What he did with Marshall was amazing. However, not having a consistent QB ruined his last couple of years. His recruiting and development of QB’s has not been great

He would be 4th on my list behind Freeze, Campbell, and Fickell.

I wouldn’t necessarily be excited about the hire but I wouldn’t be upset either.

Could do a whole lot worse.

No. But hiring a coach our recently fired coach beat seems to be the Tennessee way

I’ve got 23-20 yes/no this far.

I’m going to make it:

Yes - 24, 53%
No - 21, 47%

Why isn’t this in poll format??

Not my first choice but yes.. a proven coach that knows the SEC and if he can have weapons and have a great def coord, Tennessee may be crawling out the bottom.

All I want out of this program is them to hire a coach who has done something at a program and knows how to do it.. win.. tired of this hire a coordinator and develop him on the fly.. I’m done with it all.. Go Vols.. maybe by the time I’m 60 Tennessee will at least compete for something... I’m 45 now
