Gun control debate (merged)

I think he's a second account of another poster.

Wrong on both counts. It's important to challenge online opinions that are absurd, dumb, nonsensical or not factual--the vast majority
of which, I've found, come from conservatives, many of whom are not well educated and not very well informed. Lots of strong opinions, very few
facts.

RE the Texas shooter who was, apparently, an Hispanic with white supremacist views, I just saw this:

Bruno J. Navarro

Experts say far-right extremism within the Latino community stems from three sources: Hispanic Americans who identify as white; the spread of online misinformation; and anti-Black, antisemitic views among U.S. Latinos that are rarely openly discussed

The thoroughly brainwashed on the right as you say we're 100% correct on alot of things you lefties were slurping up, Russia collusion, Steeler dossier, pee tapes, COVID, and thats just the last 4 or 5 years
LOL....You're showing your brainwash.

I think it's very strange that we have the shooters motive and political views 48 hours later and we still don't have the Nashville shooters manifesto and I may be wrong but her social media was scrubbed within an hour or two of the shooting. 🤔

My apologies then. I wasn’t trying to run you.

I thought you were saying we suffer a higher frequency of mass attacks because of guns.

Other parts of the world suffer high frequency of mass attack too.

Ours are generally more deadly. Though I think mass attacks in Japan are pretty on par with ours.

Mass attacks in Japan? Really? Please supply a link to "mass attacks" in Japan. For one thing, Japan has no guns and no gun violence--at all. Maybe
there has been a spate of deadly chopstick attacks on people at shopping malls and students at schools that I've missed.

Is that if they identify as white or if the media identifies them as white? I am asking for George Zimmerman.

Not impressive in the least.

We even blow them away in arson, which is by far and away their leading cause of mass causality.

https://nfa.usfa.fema.gov/downloads/pdf/statistics/v1i8-508.pdf
Arson is the leading cause of fire in the United States. 1 Each year, an estimated 267,000 fires are attributed to arson, which result in $1.4 billion in property loss and cause over 2,000 injuries and 475 deaths.

Rationale and reasonable bans on matches

Rationale and reasonable bans on matches
Nope, because that wouldn't be rational or reasonable. Matches are not designed to kill people.
Plus, whoever asked for a ban on all guns?
Now if there is a specific fire starting method that is designed and marketed specifically for arson - I say ban it.

Your Wikipedia link claims 117 mass causality deaths over the past 20 years, 79 of those being from arson.
So that leaves 38 deaths over a 20+ year period. (less than 2 deaths per year)
Not sure you want to claim Japan is having an issue with mass causality events. Especially when comparing to the US.

Keep up Luther, this is what my post was in response to.

So we don't really have a gun violence problem in America? That's what you seem to be saying. Don't have a problem with mass shooting and assault rifles--which are obviously used in many if not most mass shootings? All we need is a few more "thoughts and prayers"? Conservatives are always in search of an excuse for gun violence that doesn't involve guns. I'm quite sure the "responsible gun owner" nonsense has been completely debunked. Just in the last two/three weeks, there have been a dozen cases involving completely innocent people shot and killed by crazies with guns---people who mistakenly pulled into the wrong driveway, people who got into the wrong car by mistake, people who asked a neighbor to stop shooting his gun, on and on and on...and yet the crazies think more people should have guns! Sick...insane.
We have a people problem: https://www.cnn.com/2023/05/07/us/brownsville-texas-car-crash-accident/index.html

its just for some reason when it comes to guns we blame the tool, every other case we blame the person.
