This way, anyone can buy a gun, they just have to exercise some minimal due diligence to keep is from ending up in the hands of a guy like last night.

Those words sound rather like “infringement” if you ask me.

What if you to jump through the same hoops for the first Amendment? Register your computer every three years in order to post on social media. If you do not respond to your reminder every three years to re-register your implement of free speech, you will be fined.
Actually, don’t give Biden any ideas 😬

So you want gun owners to report to the State that yes, they still have their gun and it is secured.

How is that not a registry?

Non-regulation preferred, is it? Well, why not, we don't sense enough to respect life or get along peacefully.

The potential damage of a runaway government are far worse than a runaway civilian population, even in this country. I can't imagine the atrocities our government would perform on its people if we were disarmed.

actually yes I can. Because when government atrocities have happened in this nation it came against a disarmed people. Trail of tears, disarmed natives. Tuskegee experiments, unarmed AA, thanks to the racist history of gun control in this nation. Interned asians started by disarming them. Kent State, unarmed students.

You barely scratched the surface. Shhh! Rights are allergic to the truth as they think our nation is fault-free, and incapable of diabolic conduct. Now, about this gun business, rightists don't want gun control in any form. They like having the option of killing with impunity. However, bit by bit, the chickens are coming home to roost.

Uhhh what?

I was pointing out the faults of our country. I was pointing out how gun control was one of those that lead to the later atrocities. a point you didn't even attempt to refute.

and please point to any righty wanting to kill with impunity? If you mean we want to be able to defend our family from a home invader and not have to worry about losing our freedom or livelihood, then yes. If you mean we think we are arguing that we should be able to fire off our guns freely in a downtown street, then no we aren't. You are the one that has to conflate carrying a weapon, to firing it. And I also think most of us mind private businesses banning guns on their property, the issue rises when they ban our guns, but then don't take appropriate steps to ensure our safety. The issue is we are far past any type of "fair exchange", and have entered the territory of "doing something to do something, even though it produces the exact opposite of what we want."

It's a comedian trying to be funny, understanding need not apply. I think there's a high probability that if faced with incorporating the Posse Comitatus Act into the context of his jokes or die he'd be in the ground in short order.
