Who got them start being dependent on welfare instead of being independent? So what you are saying is we need the government to save us from .. the government ?

No. I'm saying people often need a helping hand that unfortunately is not being provided through private or religious charities. At that point, the government provides a temporary helping hand. Part of that helping hand is a transition period where assistance in finding employment and affordable housing is provided. At the end of that transition period, the person is back on their own,

Except it’s not temporary. It’s passed on from generation to generation.

So, what about the roughly 25% of my patient population that remains on welfare and Tenncare after 18 years of my private practice?

It's not just the deaths either. Death is just the end of what was probably years of damage to everyone and everything around them. They're dead and their families are lucky not to be destroyed too.

Temporary is the issue. It's rarely temporary.

Basically the government is the Candy Man addicting people to welfare programs. Only unlike drug dealers, the government collects the payment from people not on the program ... only a government could make that play.

People get arrested and go to prison and when that happens it prevents deaths. You can't know exactly how many or who, doesn't mean we don't work to catch people distributing it.

Any more than if we restricted gun sales some lives would be saved, some kids, maybe yours, though you'll never know who or how many.
