Gun control debate (merged)

I don’t understand how anyone could be so careless with something as deadly as a gun. I also would not recommend letting a toddler play with a circular saw or your chefs knifes.
My chefs knives are probably toddler safe unless you use them as a club.

And those weak ass arguments always make us laugh. Most of us gun nuts understand the capability of a firearm and understand that having the right to possess them does not absolve us of the responsibility of proper access control to them.

But that’s not as interesting of a dumbazz lefty diatribe

I have a plethora of firearms. They are in various locations all over the house. All in safes bolted to something. A toddler could not get accessed to them. You could not get access to them.
Most “gun nuts” are like me.

My 6 year old grandson just got his first deer rifle from his other granddad. He's too little to carry it yet, but his dad is teaching him how to fire it.

For those that don't know him, Major General Peter Cosgrove is an Australian.
General Cosgrove was interviewed on the radio recently.

Read his reply to the lady who interviewed him concerning guns and children.
This is a portion of an ABC radio interview between a female broadcaster and General Cosgrove who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting his military Headquarters...

FEMALE INTERVIEWER:
So, General Cosgrove, what things are you going to teach these young boys when they visit your base?

GENERALCOSGROVE:
We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery and shooting.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER:
Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible, isn't it?

GENERAL COSGROVE:
I don't see why, they'll be properly supervised on the rifle range.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER:
Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children?

GENERAL COSGROVE:
I don't see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle discipline before they even touch a firearm.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER:
But you're equipping them to become violent killers.

GENERAL COSGROVE:
Well, Ma'am, you're equipped to be a prostitute, but you're not one, are you?

The broadcast went silent for 46 seconds and when it returned, the interview was over.
Flipping brilliant.

My daughter has been shooting since 7, she out shoots her AF puke husband. Momma wasn't happy at first (should be read pissed) when dad got her a 22 but it was great bonding with her Poppa. I had to explain to her that I had been around weapons since I was born and was taught the correct way to respect a firearms. Fast forward 10 years and my wife got the same shooting lessons from my father. Now I have to tell my wife no when we go to a gun show. I always say yes when she finds ammo though.

ETA: No disrespect to our AF folks (Dad was AF) as you guys are the best taxi service around. I appreciate the direct connection throughout the world!!! I still get nervous when landing in a plane that is perfectly good to jump out of!

Yeah, because obviously, that is a way larger threat to the US...

New sanctions imposed today under the CBW Act include:

  1. Restrictions on the permanent imports of certain Russian firearms. New and pending permit applications for the permanent importation of firearms and ammunition manufactured or located in Russia will be subject to a policy of denial.
  2. Additional Department of Commerce export restrictions on nuclear and missile-related goods and technology pursuant to the Export Control Reform Act of 2018.
These sanctions also include a continuation of measures imposed on March 2, 2021, as well as in 2018 and 2019 in response to the poisoning of Sergey Skripal and his daughter, along with the waivers associated with these sanctions. For information about the waivers, please see 86 FR 14804 and 84 FR 44671.

The State Department memo:

U.S. Imposes Additional Costs on Russia for Aleksey Navalny Poisoning - United States Department of State

Price of ammo just went through the roof again.
