Gun control debate (merged)

I'm going to go out on a very short limb here and say that much of the mess between gun proliferation and gun de-escalation camps is that both sides have their heads stuck so far up their keisters that they don't realize they could try sitting down and talking about it before things go sideways.

Both sides want freedom and safety. And yeah, some keyboard warriors are going to rip into me because they think I'm part of team blah blah and I should yada yada... You're part of the problem, along with a whole bunch of businesses and groups that benefit monetarily from seeing this fight continue. Both sides want peace, safety, and freedom. They want to get there through different means. Man up and talk about it.

Yeah, I'm tired and can't sleep cause the beautiful flu b came to visit and screwed me over and I'll probably regret this post if I wake up in the morning. Whatever. It's all ones and zeros in the end.

Here's my endgame, for the label makers: I love guns. 2A exists for a reason. If you're not a psycho and can pass the tests, you should be able to carry. But I also want my grandchildren to grow up in a country where they don't wonder how many people around them are armed at any given time because maybe, just maybe, we pulled our heads out of our collective asses and worked on making society better together instead of continuing these petty little schoolyard games to see who has more hair under their waistband.

The intellect and passion on this board alone could do real and enduring good if you'd just listen to each other with the intent to understand instead of with the posture to slam back. You've got more in common than you think. It's why I stick around. That and I'm occasionally decent comedy relief.

I'm gonna go chug more NyQuil and hope this fever breaks. Guns good. Gun violence bad. You're all good people, no matter what label someone else sticks on you. Figure it out.

Won't your grandchildren still wonder about who's carrying a side arm regardless of the law? You realize if they pass laws preventing some from carrying they'll still carry. There are literally 100s of people arrested everyday with firearms that are legally prohibited from owning them.

Passing laws only affects the law abiding citizens. Drugs are illegal yet they are part of our society in a major way.

Logically it's better if more law abiding citizens are armed. No one wants to be shot at including criminals.

Hope you feel better.

I can only speak for myself ( not for anyone but me ) . Its hard for me to consider giving up any rights I have, when the ones wanting to take them never stop wanting to take more from me and using misinformation to the masses to try and turn public opinion . Example ... the hot ticket item for the gun grabbers now is the AR platform better known to the public ( because of misinformation by gun grabbers and the media ) as Fully Automatics, Assault Weapons , Weapons of War . They won’t address the number and stats because they are not in their favor . Instead of addressing laws that are already in place , beef them up , or really just enforce them , they continue to want more and more. They even go so far as candidate( s) running for the highest office in the land , publicly telling me that they are for door to door gun confiscation. The grabbers are never happy with what they get , it’s never enough . That’s why I’m never willing to believe them when they say “ it’s just common sense reform “ . The main goal seems to me , is to become more and more like the European models , and this is not a compromise it’s a step by step process and example of how to eat an elephant.

It's insidious.

I haven't heard what all went on but 2nd Ammendment sanctuary was scheduled to be discussed at last night's city commission meeting in Dunlap. I think it will be proposed to the County Commission at the next meeting in a week or so. Things are happening all over thanks to the Citizens of Virginia!

The world will hold its collective breath until the 4200 citizens of Dunlap enact this sham law. Then we can all laugh at you.

Why would you or your grandchildren care if someone is armed or not? Do you not realize there are people carrying firearms (both legally and illegally) around you everywhere you go? How many times have you been shot at?

Quit fearing inanimate objects

Purple's got to nurple.

The laughing of hyenas means absolutely nothing while good citizens protesting an illegal law peacefully sends a message to those who propose bad law. Laws only work when those being legislated obey them.

Aren't the laws that go against the 2nd amendment a sham? Do you laugh at those also, or just the ones that go against your party?

No, i laugh at hysterical local and state governments who waste time on laws that do or mean nothing.
No to which, the laws against the 2nd, or these gun sanctuary places? There would be no need for these laws that mean nothing according to you, if the Democratic leaders weren't being stupid. I'm very interested since you feel this way about gun sanctuaries, how do you feel about these places that are sanctuaries for illegal aliens? Do you laugh at those as well?

The side that wants to limit rights has no interest in freedom making your entire post a meaningless word salad.

If you read my post correctly, it applies to any stupid law, not just gun laws.

You need clarity, that is for sure. I am not sure the Major Gun Sanctuary bill in Dunlap affects current gun laws and/or enforcement.
That didn't answer my question. I am genuinely interested in whether you think that it's ok for local law enforcement to not enforce the gun laws passed at the state or federal level.
