Hero ex-FBI agent who stopped Texas church shooting says he 'had to take out' gunman because 'evil exists'

Two men were killed when the gunman opened fire at West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement on Sunday morning as more than 240 parishioners were inside. Within seconds, he was shot to death by two congregants who fired back.
The lawyers will be pissed the gunman was stopped and that no other innocents were shot by those defending themselves.

He was the only congregant to fire, and he was a reserve deputy and firearms instructor.

I am grateful for his quick action and applaud it. But I fear the notoriety that is soon to follow, including the inevitable appearance on Fox News and Trump crowning him something or other, is going to lead to a lot of people with no business anywhere near a gun arming themselves to protect against some phantom threats.

Like they don't already.

I guess this again destroys your go to argument about "everyone having a gun will lead to wild west shootouts". Almost everyone in that church had a gun and not 1 bystander was hit by errant fire.

and yes they literally prefer a mass killing to further their agenda. Bonus coverage if the mass killer is white.
Doesnt matter, when it doesn't fit their narrative they go with the way the town got its name. You know, the white man killed 10M indians to settle in this little area.

I can and it does. How many guns were out during the shooting? How many bystanders were shot?

The only person who fired was the reserve deputy/trainer.

Exactly, the rest of the congregation while armed held fire.

You have many times in the past prognosticated that in a room full of armed people an active shooter situation would turn into a bloodbath. This situation proves otherwise.

6 others were armed. 1 eliminated the phantom threat. Id say it worked as intended. I'm thankful he was there.

As a reserve deputy and a firearms trainer of course he is perfectly suited to deal with that. I have said so. He is a hero.

I just worry that others will also try to be heroes when they have no business anywhere near a firearm.

No worries, I'm sure he's their trainer 👌

You're concerned that this will lead to individuals with little to zero experience, purchasing firearms for the sake of protecting themselves and others?

More than likely those individuals will seek out proper instruction after the purchase so that they will have familiarity with the weapon and be ready if the time comes.

So yes, let's be concerned about law abiding citizens exercising their rights to defend themselves in certain situations. SMH

Everytime this arguement is made about the public arming up after a mass shooting or attempted mass shooting, liberals begin repeating that there will be blood in the streets and the public will turn their towns into the wild west.

I have yet to see this as the result of those claims.

More than likely? You are just making that up.

What phantom threat would that be exactly?

The Passing of the Peace has been renamed the Passing of the Piece.

The Lord be with you...
... And with your sidearm.

I grieve for what has become of our nation, when places of worship and places of learning are now places of fear. We must do what we must do in response.

My mother-in-law remembers singing a song in church named "Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition". Is it time to bring the patriotic hymn from WW2 back into current use?
