There aren't many dumbasses hunting with 30 rounds. Not many people would say the AR or AK is their go to hunting weapon. Would you like to make the argument that those weapons are superior at hunting whitetail responsibly? How many rounds can you have in a magazine while hunting?

Lots of people love the AR platform for predator and nuisance hunting. Around here you aren’t going to be taking many shots past 200 yards, so decent optics and a medium barrel means you could handle anything around here with a lightweight reliable platform. Hunting rifles can hold 3 or 5 rounds so that’s what you do.

A 10 round magazine as a maximum would piss off most people here. You don't need more than that except to fend off a government attack.

Not so much AK's but the AR platform has rapidly become very popular with hunters. There are several lines of 223/5.56 ammunition that are specifically intended for medium game hunting. (which in the US mostly means deer and hogs) Of course, as is often brought up, it's a terribly flawed approach to look at the AR platform and default to any certain caliber (though the one cited is certainly the most common) as there are many others. (and remember "AR" includes the AR10 platform as well) Whatever one's preference it's a dubious argument to try and talk down the applicability of AR's to hunting. They launch a projectile like everybody else's game procurement choice.

As for rounds that varies on location. Things change so it's always worth checking but I don't believe TN has a magazine capacity restriction for big game. Capacity restrictions are more a thing with migratory birds than other game animals. This is actually useful when in an area where one might come across hogs during deer season.

nope. but my right to one is good. actually its everyone's right, not just mine, and not just those who want a gun or not.

I seriously don't understand the basic idea of people being fine with their freedom being more restricted than it is. I have a fundamental problem with voting, I believe it is straight oppression of the minority, but if the government tried to take it away I would be out there resisting them taking away rights.

if I am hunting hogs aint no way I am taking a muzzle loader. I even know some people that won't go hog hunting with AR-15s after a bad experience. I would say you can get an AR to be just about perfect at whatever you want it to be. If you want a 5 shot mag, you can get a 5 shot mag. if you want a banana mag you can get that too. probably pretty clumsy but there are people who hunt from blinds where that wouldn't really matter. the best part of the magazine argument is it literally changes nothing in the gun. its the same gun.

and I would say there is probably a very good number that use an AR platform to hunt.

I'm not saying exclude it from being a hunting weapon, but lets have more accountability for having one. Grandfather the people that have one now in, if they register, and pay the NFA stamp. It's not expensive to get one. I'm willing to do that, are you? It's very sensible if you think about it. MAKE PEOPLE ACCOUNTABLE. If it's a great gun, you wouldn't want to sell it.

So the government sells your rights back to you for $200. Because some assholes in a country of 330M don’t act right. The legal system already makes you accountable for your actions, a tax does not.

So you are advocating not selling them any more, but let the current owners keep them, as long as they pay money to do so? I can't wait to hear the logic behind this.
