I wouldn't mind a handling test. Something similar to what my range does when renting a gun for someone to use. They require you load rounds into a mag, and then properly load and charge the gun. And then pop the mag out.

As someone at the range even that level of competence is reassuring.

I would beg any of the gun doubters come by and check out Stoddards near Atlantic station here in Atlanta. They will quickly see guns arent a boogey man.

J. Floyd has shrunk and moved a tad down from where it was.
Buds gun shop is next to Smoky Mountain knife works just across the river. You can get there and out without being in to much traffic. Indoor gun range too.

They are selling pallets of ARs like hotcakes and have been for months.

That’s done at the range because they don’t want to lose their insurance over an incident. Why do I need to prove to the state I know how to operate a firearm? If I discharge a gun negligently with or without a carry permit I’m liable either way.

you dont have to. but if we are talking about steps that would actually do something to make everyone safer, this is one.

it literally takes a minute. no intrusion into who you are, they dont track what you bought, costs you nothing. wouldnt even require any government involvement.

and for the new owner it lets you play with your new toy, and talk shop for a bit.

Outlaw getting guns illegally. That's the funny part to the neighboring area argument. It's still illegal there to do what he is arguing is happening.

No where can a FFL sell a gun without a background check. And even here in the wild west of the south a decent number of retailers wont sell to out of state licenses. So I know no one is coming down to my gun shop with an Illinois license and buying guns to drive back up to Chicago.

Look at what Obama’s EPA did to glider kit trucks. They used old engines and other stuff in new chassis. Got more miles per gallon for the semi than newer trucks. Thousands were being made per year. Obama had it cut down to about 300.

You can’t sell a handgun to an out of state person face to face. It has to be transferred to an FFL in their state of residence.
