^^Nope, they have nothing else. This is more important to the dems than the economy, security or immigration.

Eh, it's an obvious end run. If they can't get the guns they'll go after the ammo. If they can't actually get the ammo they'll attempt to impose as many legal liabilities as possible.

I doubt it makes it out of committee hearings, but it's still the principle.

And the co-sponsors are the list of usual suspects.

I honestly don't mind the face to ace ammo buying part of it. Doesn't bother me in the least bit. The tracking of ammunition purchases/bulk purchases is retarded.

I do.

You get way better deals online. And even avoid State tax in many cases. Online dealers keep the prices reasonable and offer a good counter to stores that can (and will) increase the price if they are the only game in town.

I don't think so. LOTS of ammo gets ordered online. Hell, depending on where you live there's some ammo you basically don't have access to any other way.

And don't even get me started on how if the above went through (not that I think it will but it's not like they aren't trying) the next obvious move is trying to get reloading components on the list. Nope, uh uh, no way am I anything but 100% against every bit of it.

I won't disagree with you at all here. I've done it as well with 7.62 ammo because it's dirt cheap online. I just woulnd't have an issue with going to a local shop to get it vs online. Yea it's cheaper, but I don't mind the idea of people having to show up in person to buy ammo. I do understand where you're coming from though.

I absolutely hate the idea of anyone tracking how much ammo I'm purchasing. Also what is considered bulk? 1k rounds? 2k rounds? If I've done nothing wrong, follow the laws, then why would you need to know this information about me?

I have a huge issue with it. Say this gets passed. It would then be on the BATFE to decide who could get licensed as a dealer. And who is to say they wouldn't shut down a vast majority of the mom and pop stores because they didn't meet the "requirements" to be a dealer? Or the State Department gets involved and charges an annual licensing fee of $25,000 to be a dealer?

Way, way, way too much stuff that can (and will) go wrong with this bill if it was to pass and get signed into law.

Valid points.

I don't see it being passed though.

I think they set the limit at 1k rounds.

I don't have a reference point for this. I buy shells for hunting and my 9mm. Ive never gotten close to purchasing that for what I own. I bet my brother is about to flip his @#it.

From what I understand, you can go through 1000 rounds in a day especially .22 and other sporting calibers. If I owned any firearms I might order in bulk every now and then. Like going to Sams and buying that big jug of peanut butter.

I hear ya. From reading the bill (the best I understand it anyway) I don't think they prohibit you from purchasing in bulk (> 1000 rounds in 1 day or 5 day span) it just requires that the dealer file a report on the purchase. Now depending on how laborsome/costly this report is it may turn into prohibiting bulk sale.

2 friends and I went out to a huge vacant lot in Texas and wasted about 2k rounds of 5.56 and 7.62 alone.

It's easy to do. About to put a few 100 through my .22 this weekend. If my brother in law gets involved it'll end up being more.

It's ridiculously easy with .22 rimfire if you're shooting autos. They just seem to evaporate if you've got a few people loading mags and plinking away.

I've cut waaaay back since around here one still doesn't just walk into a store and find anything on the shelves for much less than triple what they cost only a couple years ago. I've been in hunt and peck accumulation mode for awhile now. (I could buy more but I simply refuse to pay the commonly available 3x prices)
