Gun control debate (merged)

I'm a liberal. I own a lot of firearms and have taken the hunters safety course. Guess what? I have never called my representatives and complained about guns. So would you please stop using "liberals" as a derogatory word when you speak on things of this nature. Every educated person knows that blanket statements never hold weight in arguments.

Maybe you should say the section of our population that just doesn't get why people have to own a device that kills other things. Those people are sometimes liberals, conservatives, women, and men. Please just stop with the miss guided hate.

I do agree with your point. We don't educate our children about them enough at all. That's why when kids do drink they end up binge drinking and acting like fools. Kinda like that saying about preachers and their daughters.

Please inform the rest of your liberal friends not to use the term liberal when describing their detest for firearms of any form as well.

And while you're at it, can you please tell me why I'm not good enough to be an American citizen?

You are GV. You're more than good enough.

If those dirty liberals can be citizens, you more than pass the muster. :good!:

Well, Mister VFL seems to think I'm not worthy of being a citizen since I believe the aliens that have violated our borders and our laws should be shipped right back home.

Somehow that makes me lack some quality for being a American...

So...isn't the example you give here a pretty similar generalization to what you're arguing against?

While overall your observation that simply "liberal" = whatever isn't necessarily going to be accurate has merit let's be realistic. If you were asked to put %'s on pro-gun vs anti-gun don't you think it'd be those identifying as liberals that would be hugely overrepresented as antis?

Go to Mexico and sneak back in. He'll love you!

I would point out where you contradicted yourself but it's been done ad nauseum.

The vast majority of liberals are anti 2A and conservatives and libertarians pro 2A. That's why liberal is brought up. Heavy gun control is a liberal idea but keep up taking it personal.

"There’s a new semi-automatic handgun on the horizon for the Army that U.S. consumers may have access to almost immediately. When that happens, America’s emergency rooms better be prepared for the carnage that’s likely to follow."

Haha lets just get all emotional.
I'll never understand the gun grabbers.

I love how they ignore the fact that traditionally, revolver rounds are more powerful than those in semiautomatics. I mean, let's see the carnage done by a .44 Magnum compared to a .45 ACP.

But OMG! OMG! OMG! They have 15 ROUNDS!

I just love the fact that most of your more prominent members of the anti freedom, gun grabbing community are protected by the very same weapons they want to ban.

I offer this quote from the late Col. Jeff Cooper

“Hoplophobia is a mental disturbance characterized by irrational aversion to weapons, as opposed to justified apprehension about those who may wield them.” – To Ride, Shoot Straight, and Speak the Truth

Their math is stupid. Is the new gun likely to have an increased capacity? If not then that article is simply an idiotic space filter

The Army must be looking for a super duper 9mm Luger or .45 ACP. I suppose you could go with +p+ if you want to beat the hell out of the gun and risk a catastrophic failure.

The answer is no. And with it being a Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) purchase, chances are it will be in an established caliber like 9mm, .40 S&W and .45 ACP. Offhand chance of something like a .357 Sig, but that's not even likely.

But no increased capacity.

This I don't disagree with, but personally? I'd rather not have Congress dicking around in anything gun related except for the word "repeal." It just seems like each and every time we get something that might be good, there is something hidden inside that bites us in the ass when it comes to guns.

But I tell you what, I'd give liberals their universal background checks for the following:

Reciprocity of CCW Rights and all States adopt a "Shall Issue" policy. I don't mind keeping it with photo ID at the moment, but the requirements set forth would be the same as getting a driver's license.
Deletion of the SBR, SBS and suppressor requirements from NFA34. They can keep the DD and AOW requirements.
Removal of the "Sporter Claus" from GCA68
Repeal of the Huges Amendment from FOPA86
Void the Import Ban of 1989
Pass a law making it illegal to ban any firearms or related items manufacturer from importing by Executive Order. And void all such Orders that are in the system currently. Any gun control items will be by legislation only.
Remove the approval/fees for the State Department from the requirements set forth for manufacturers in the ITAR and/or deletion of the complete ITAR.

Fair trade for universal background checks.

You're on the right track. It's why I support constitutional carry -- to get Congress (and all lawmakers for that matter) out of gun control. NO REGISTRATION AND NO PERMITS. The only way I would support universal background checks is if the 4473s were turned over to the purchaser after said check is performed. There should be no record (paper or electronic) of my purchases for government to get their hands on, which is the idea behind universal checks.

Repeal the NFA, the GCA, and get rid of the BAFTE. I don't mind a ban on anything over .50 cal and the prohibition of carry in certain "sensitive" areas, but that's as far as I'm willing to go with gun control.

Hope the emergency rooms are ready for the carnage.

Hyperbole? I can't remember if you're one of the hoplophobes on this issue or not.

It was sarcasm.

It was sarcasm.

I was 90% sure you're one of the good guys. There's a few anti-freedom people on here; so between them, work, and family I get mixed up on occasion.

I always get a chuckle out of the anti-gunners and their propaganda. The same morons who predicted blood in the street as soon as concealed carry became the norm will be sure to remind us how dangerous this new super gun is once the contract has been awarded. I'm sure the SEALs will stick with SIG.

It's cool. I will generally annoy everyone at one point or another--friends and 'foes' alike. It just seems to be part of my DNA.

Little steps back the other way like liberals have been doing. First it's SBRs and SBS, getting the State Department out of the FFL business, CCW reciprocity across the 50 States with again, licensing no harder than a driver's license. So on and so forth.

BATFE could be rolled into the FBI I agree.

I'm sure the SEALs will stick with SIG.

SOF will continue to use what they always have. And that's whatever gets the job done right.

Obviously liberals that think this massive carnage that gets created by civilian models of military pistols have never picked up that boat anchor of a Mk 23 and tried to swing it around quickly.
