It wouldn't be such a big deal except:
1)It's a landmark case
2)It's been around since '08
3)He's a lawyer
3a)He spends a lot of time trying to speak like he's knowledgeable on the subject.

I don't know -- I see a lot of people around this forum speaking to the plain language of the Constitution. I guess I kind of fundamentally question why the initial clause about a "well regulated militia" is even in there if its is irrelevant.

If you'd looked into it you'd already have your answer to questions regarding the the clauses. For a moments pause please consider the wording for Rhode Island's Constitution.

"The liberty of the press being essential to the security of freedom in a state, any person may publish sentiments on any subject, being responsible for the abuse of that liberty..."

Further, when we're talking about "plain language", just what in the hell do you think the Framers meant when using terminology like "right", "the people" and "infringed"? The idea that such terminology would be applied to something subject to the government's largesse outside militia service is something I've never, ever, heard argued worth a damn.

We know how plain language "if you like you can keep", "transparency", "eliminate waste", etc etc works. Not everything is a lie or needs a twisted interpretation.....some things just mean what they say.

I don't know, why is there a comma in there as well? Is it irrelevant as well?

What do commas do? Lazy little bastages that they are.

How you gun advocates just keep pretending like that is not a real consequence of your slavish adherence to gun rights is beyond all reason.

Compare those numbers to the number of vehicular homicides. Do we ban cars. Many of those were alcohol related. Ban alcohol?

What about all the crimes possibly deaths prevented due to legally owned and permitted firearms?

It strikes me as funny when you left wing liberal socialist advocate removing rights and freedoms as long as they don't effect you.

Teen 'beat grandmother to death with a baseball bat


I would say they all lost their temper and killed..not having a gun didn't stop them

And what kind of gun did OJ have when he lost his temper?

The young man was obviously unbalanced with a desire to do harm to others. I'm sure the YouTube videos were not the first red flags his parents had seen. It's a shame that they didn't take more time out of their busy lives to ensure the safety of their child and those that lived around him.

He planned this out years in advance. He wanted firearms in addition to his blades...and he could have easily found them - legal or not. Killing is against the law. A law against firearms would not have been a deterrent.

Do you see a difference between having a bat that allows the killing of one person, versus firearms that allow the easy and faster killing of many?

Lack of access to guns would have made it harder to fire into a deli and a sorority.

Sure, I don't disagree with that. Lack of access to many things would keep people from harming themselves or others. That's a long list.

He also killed half his victims with a knife and not one of his assault handguns.

Do you honestly believe that had he wanted a gun and was not legally allowed to purchase one, he would not have found a way to get one?

I'll probably get lambasted for this, but that hasn't stopped me yet...

I think our current culture that glamorizes sex was a a large part of the problem. Men's egos are tied to sexual conquests, our worth is tied to who, how many, and how beautiful we can bed. Sexual partners are objectified as conquests, and are presented as the answer to what ails us. Seems this guy's breaking point and object of his scorn was his virginity. He hated the objectified women who killed his self worth.

I realize he was crazy. But on the other hand, it should come as no surprise that that which our culture objectifies... became little more than objects to this guy.

There might be something to that, but hasn't this been true in almost every culture forever? I don't think it is a recent cultural event for men to measure themselves by how much tail they get.
