Guns have been around forever without a problem but now we have an abundance of homicidal individuals. Where did these individuals come from? Why were they not a problem before?

Yes, I think the next step will be semi-auto handguns. Of course you're right that the murders will continue and the clamor for more bans will continue. That does not change the fact that the high capacity rifles need to be taken off the market.
