Gun control debate (merged)

I can't honestly imagine any feeling "more safe" when just the criminal has a gun and you're a sitting duck. That can't be common sense, just being more dedicated to being a liberal than thinking smart.

I honestly believe that I am more than likely to be shot if I try to pull a gun whether than just sitting there and not antagonizing the criminal

Someone determined to commit a mass killing doesn't care if you have a gun or not. You ever notice that every single mass shooting in this country has been in a gun free zone? I'll take my chances carrying like I have for years.

When a citizen pulls a gun on a criminal...... Mother of pearl.....

Nice picture of yourself. Probably why you need a gun because you had the shi* beat out of you a lot in high school. I can actually leave my house everday without feeling so petrified that I need to carry a gun. It's funny, gun nuts try to make liberals seem weak and scared when it's actually the opposite, gun nuts are so scared they need to carry a gun to feel safe.

Being prepared and being scared are 2 different things entirely.

not quite.... But I can say I'm not afraid of guns. People don't own guns or carry them out of fear. Your parents really screwed up when they allowed you to join the Brownies instead of the Scouts.

The US gov is the paranoid one, they know our economy is on the verge of collapse, to much debt, military getting weaker by the day, veterans have lost faith and respect for the VA, the cops and military are patriots, we are stronger as a country and can be united again when the media pressure eases on pushing gov political gain, shipping jobs over seas is not helping, allowing immigrants to walk free for crimes because our local courts can't afford to prosecute or issue warrants when they don't show up to court, the gov knows it effed up. They don't want a revolt, keep the masses at bay with free handouts and subsidies to extend welfare support along with foreign aide we cannot afford, India is starving itself to death while there's enough food to feed everyone and get people back to work.

Look at flint Michigan, that's a physically repairable issue,God bless the victims and children suffering lead poisoning, there are nuclear power facilities getting extended epa permits to operate degrading reactors and running out of places economically possible to dump waste and store it for 1,000 years.while Obama wants to ban coal mining and use, when it's safer than nuclear power

There's unstoppable issues that we will have to learn to live with

Keyword "trying". The more bullets flying around the more risk there is. Also, what gun enthusiasts refuse to admit is that citizens w/ guns often escalate the situation as a criminal who feels threatened by someone else w/ a weapon is often more likely to start opening fire rather than just use it as a threat when no one else is firing at them. Doesn't fit into most people's narratives on this board though, so it's generally ignored.

Please find us an example or two of this actually happening. If you can, I'll fit it into my narrative.

Work on your skill set.

But in all seriousness if the guy has the drop on you, you just might be better off not pulling.

I'm a what you would probably describe as a gun nut and don't always carry.

I have a feeling that he sees everyone as a gun. He most likely secretly hates the military but will never admit it on here.

I noticed hunt just avoided my question so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he didn't see it.

Let's take your hypothetical active shooter in the situation and replace cleetus with a LEO. those same three women get caught in the crossfire? Doe he or she get charged and indicted just as cleetus would have for negligent homicide? If not why? They are both people who are legally allowed to carry and use their firearms in self defense. A utility belt and a shiny badge shouldn't change the responsibilities of the people involved.

A few may be like that, but not all. It's not fear that drives a person, just preparation. They may carry for the same reason one might own a fire extinguisher. I don't expect my house to burn down, but if there's a fire I can do something to try to stop it. The FD may respond, but what can I do to prevent it from spreading in the few minutes before their arrival?

Gun haters love to paint gun owners as jumpy people that are scared of everything and would draw on anyone that speaks to them. That stereotype they try to push is part of why 2nd Amendment advocates have little belief there is any honesty in the "common sense gun laws" debate.

The true fear is from the gun haters. If someone has that much fear of an object, they shouldn't own one. But their fear is so strong they want gun ownership outlawed.
