Gun control debate (merged)

lol..........Within the first week of my discovery of the PF I spent a a lot of time in this thread having a "discussion". It was anything but. The 2A crowd in here had zero desire to discuss. I've fallen back into that trap a couple of other times with the exact same results. I'm not sure that I've ever seen anyone change their position from that which they initially entered. That's why it really all boils down to who decides what is rational and reasonable.
But again, out of boredom and depression from the TN game, I'll give you guys a shot.
I think background checks on the purchase of ammo is a great idea.

There is zero need to have a discussion, the second amendment is settled and anyone wanting to limit it beyond the draconian regulations we have now is a fascist. No need to discuss personal freedom with a fascist.

You started good, then shat the bed. You went from a provable fact to pure speculation.
I was suspicious that you wouldn't like my answer. Now if you compared crimes committed per hour per capita, gun shows would be ahead by a factor of 10 thousand to 1.

True that.

I don’t know why you guys talk to him about this. He talks in circles and won’t commit to anything. You’d be better off talking to your lawn.
The hilarious thing is that I said multiple times that it was idiotic to have this "discussion".
We always painfully circle back to the exact same point. We are in disagreement and nothing is going to change that fact, and the ones who will ultimately decide, will ultimately decide.

I'm the one handing out the chocolates in that picture. You guys are always eager and willing to gobble the morsels I hand out. (sounds about right)
Not all of us guys bother taking your idiocy laced chocolates and we know we will never agree at a common point with you. Ever.

I answered three times your just too dense to comprehend. I'll put it in bold for you...

WE HAVE ENOUGH GUN LAWS ON OUR BOOKS NOW.

If you feel so strongly, I think you should put a "Gun Free Zone" sign in your front yard.
He's not dense, he tries to box people in a corner with words and then claims victory with a big V. I recognized you answered him the first time and so did anyone else that read it. Semantics matter to x and y. Luther you are trying to be cute and no one's buying it.

I'm only trying to establish a common ground from which we can base the discussion.
1. Most agree that rational and reasonable gun laws are needed.
2. We disagree on what is rational and reasonable.

Then we need to damn sure keep any more from going on the books.

I'm not disagreeing with you because I agree that there are currently more than enough gun laws on file. Due to current events and the ones continuing to occur (i.e. mass shootings), IMO....those laws are there to stay. I don't see the politicians making changes on gun policies any time soon.

As evidenced earlier in this thread, stupid politicians are elected by stupid people. Unfortunately, the cycle is never ending with that bunch.
