To me, Grumors means we haven't given up hope as a fan base. Why not gruden? Is it probable, no. Is it realistic, no. I tell my kids to dream big....dream big Vols.

I don't think it will happen,,but I'd love to see him on our sidelines. He'd be a hell of a coach.

I'm dreaming BIG! All in on Chucky!

I got caught up in that Gruden thread the last time. I felt really strongly he would be the next UT coach. Butch was a real letdown to say the least. I truly feel that if Gruden wanted to come coach at UT, he would let some inside people know. Maybe Peyton, maybe Curie.

Just to try and put this to rest even though I am sure it will not.

He is not on Curries radar in any way.

I'm telling you. He was in last time. They could not agree on staff budget .

There is no concrete proof that Gruden has already turned this job down twice. But let’s say that is true. What was it that he didn’t like? The money? The harsh NCAA rules which he has said he doesn’t like?

Well there you have it. How would he not at least reach out to him? We'll get another Butch level coach. I understand Gruden is a pipe dream, but to not even be on Curries radar tells me a lot. That disappoints me

Heck, just the other night on Monday Night Gruden, he mentioned Tennessee 4 times! 4 times! It's a sign. Like he was winking and whatnought. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of AGrudica....... That YouTube video: Grudemonium 2012 is an all time classic!

That leaves Kelly, Patterson, Peterson, and Venables from my top 5 wish list of elites and 2 probably 3 of those are most likely unattainable.

Perhaps he already knows that whatever Gruden would want $ wise wouldn't be possible with the boosters. Just my opinion. Or perhaps he has been notified of Gruden's disinterest with coaching College Football. Either way I'm sure Jon crossed his mind.

Maybe but AV said he's not on Curries radar in any way. If he would have gauged his interest then this statement wouldn't be true.

Yes, Gruden is going to come coach here. Just like Manning and Martin. Then when they lose the first time against anyone, don't beat a cupcake by enough points, or run the exact play all the armchair coaches want ran everyone would be calling for their heads. Ok, sure I buy it.:loco::eek:lol::whistling:

I would feel a million times better if we had a list of who they're actually considering. But I know that's not a possibility so I'll just keep stressing about it. Lol.

I would like to preface this post by saying I'm not questioning your status as being "in the know" at all, so please, don't feel that way.

But I'd imagine every AD out there at a P5 program has a "wish list" for lack of a better term that would include coaches that normally wouldn't pop up in normal conversation. Not saying Gruden is or isn't on Currie's list, but I'd be surprised if the notion hasn't entered his mind at some point given Gruden's previous comments on the matter and (somewhat) historical ties to the University. Having said that to say this, could be off the radar because he knows it wouldn't happen. No big deal as we've been shot down before. But I couldn't imagine the name isn't somewhere in the back of his mind as a legitimate "wonder what would happen if we asked..."

However, it could be (and I'm not asking you to confirm or deny) that certain members of the BOT and booster club don't want to see a coach with Saban like power over UT Football. And made that desire known to Currie as soon as coaching moves came up. My guess, and a little from the Grumor side from 2012, is that Gruden would demand such concessions. He runs football, Currie runs the money, stay out of each other's way. If, a big if, he had success off the bat, Gruden could rival Saban in his ability to tell boosters and whatnot to eff off. The program makes good money and their power over decision making would lessen. Some might not like that. They might want to keep a tighter leash on the program. An assumption on my part really, but a distinct possibility given our track record of coaching hires the past three times.

Anyway, just some rambling thoughts. Gruden might not be on any official "list," but I would tend to think there's always options that aren't made public even if it is small talk over a cocktail about the "what if" scenarios.

Currie better make a home run hire because if Vols do not have SEC East title in next 3 years then the new coach will be gone as well as Currie.
