Gruden and Chizik

Dingy never won a SB with those guys. Plus Gruden beat the team he built at Oakland Gruden never had a Manning at QB. He always had journeymen Qbs. Dingy never won a SB until he got Manning. Then won only one with the smartest player of his time.

Gruden won with Dungy players then began to lose and was fired! much like what Gene Chizik is doing now
Tampa Bay gave up the kitchen sink (draft picks) to get Gruden, and that hurts them. Their GM should have gotten him a marquee QB, like Atlanta did with Matt Ryan, and he'd still be coaching there. Just look at Atlanta. They sucked bad, and immediately turned it around once they got their QB.

I think Jack DelRio was in the same boat. He, like Gruden is having to try and win with a backup level QB. Del Rio is probably still JAX's coach if he had gotten that QB. Miami is a good case study. They kept getting by with QB's other teams let go. They got sick of suffering and finally drafted themselves a decent QB.

I'd even lump Jeff Fisher into this. He'd have better fortunes with the Titans if Young hadn't been such a diva.

In this case, with Gruden, he can shop for his own groceries here, and I don't see him taking a back seat in recruiting to Bama, UF or LSU

the draft picks he got traded for helped Tampa win the Super Bowl by getting Gruden, but hurt them in the long run...he did it in 1 yr,Dungy didnt do it in 7...
not his fault they didn't draft well and let key players go,and Tampa went on the cheap
and spent less money than any team for a 5 year stretch...

its called google, you should try it before spouting off about things
you know nothing about or don't comprehend...

So, you let Gruden off the hook for the offense sucking, but how does that explain Gruden having one HELL of a fall-back in Monte Kiffin's top-10 defense?? IIRC (and I do), Kiffin was Gruden's DC the entire time he was at Tampa, and only ONE of those years was the D not in the top-10.

Maybe, just MAYBE it's not that the Glazers were cheap, MAYBE it's just the fact that......

People who post this stuff...

Have you ever looked at the offense that he inherited at TB?

Yes, the defense was stacked, but he won a super bowl with
Brad Johnson
Mike Alstott/Michael Pittman (neither of which managed more than 800 yards)
Keenan McCardell at the end of his career.
Washed up Keyshawn Johnson.

Sorry I'm not sorry, but people who think Dungy left him a stacked team are dumb dumb dumb.

Precisely. My point remains.....Jon Gruden owes 100% of his wins while coach of the Bucs to Monte Kiffin and his defenses.

yet he boat raced everyone in the playoffs and the Super Bowl...
Dungy didnt...

and with the D being so good, maybe the Glazers should have gotten off their wallet
and got him some playmakers on offense...Monte does deserve credit for that D,but so did Marvin Lewis for the Ravens,Buddy ryan for the Bears,Al Saunders for the Rams,etc...oh yeah, how have the Bucs done since Gruden left with a 9-7 record?

I know you are a Bucs fan,but don't understand the hatred of Gruden,
the only coach to bring a title to Tampa...

And now, I have you.

Explain to me how the head coach and the defensive coordinator OF THE SAME TEAM have different constraints when it comes to money.

FACT: Kiffin was under the SAME OWNERSHIP as Gru-bage. Your argument is null and void. Kiffin was able to put together a top-10 defense, while Gruden wasn't able to get his offense even into the TOP HALF of the NFL.

52% win record makes him a winner extraordinaire

Fulmer has 74% win record...LOL:finger3:

Did you really compare an NFL winning percentage to a college one? I didn't know the pro guys had the option of playing MTSU and Georgia St. Someone should let the Browns know this.

I hope gruden is hired and all of the fans that don't want him here can be just as disappointed as the rest of us were when a guy only know for being Vince Dooleys son was hired.

What is the matter with the posters on this board.....NFL vs NCAA there is no comparison between the two but most of you want to mix the records. No can't do that. This is just another indication of why board talk is out to lunch
