Or give some of it to the players who actually make these earnings possible..
And the programs actually gives the players the opportunities to play, get their education, get their notoriety and exposure for not only the nba but for other employment opportunities. Nah, players get enough already imho.

You open it and they’ll want more and more.
Allow them to get a PT job and be done.
That's not a bad idea but when would they have time to work? And what companies would be willing to work around their crazy schedules. I hate the whole "well they get a free education and a place to live" argument. They bust their ass every day and put their body on the line to make these schools and coaches millions upon millions of dollars. They should receive a stipend and imo the only way it will work and be fair is if it's the same amount across the board. If you play football for a FBS team you automatically get an X amount of money. 1 time payment each semester. Dont matter if you play for Bama or Vandy or FIU. Theres ways they could make it work.

I've never really been for paying players, since they get lodging/education/food. But if you took 10% of that, five million, and split it 85 ways, the kids would get about $60,000 each. of course, that's just football, and splitting between all athletes at the university would require a bigger percentage of the total.
Pay should be divided based on which teams are earning the profit. Players on Women’s sports teams and other thieving non revenue generating sports should have to pay to cover their costs. The band should have to pay everyone subjected to their godawful noises and rent their time spent destroying the field.

Then it would be taxed as a gift because technically they can’t be paid as an athlete so they would really only receive $30k or so. Plus can’t split 85 ways because starting QB is getting more than a bench warmer!

Spoken like someone who wasn’t a college athlete.

Pray tell, good sir, during which hours of the day do you wish for these “student” - athletes to participate in such work activities?

"Athletic department announces ticket price reduction based on SEC revenue sharing" said no athletic director anywhere.

If your honest opinion hasn’t been formulated from your own personal experience (previous or current) as a student athlete, then your honest opinion means a bunch of jack sh*t imho.

Where does all the money go for crying loud? The student debt crisis is unreal (glad not to be apart of it). Just curious, where does it all go?

How about, when a scholarship is awarded to an athlete, a second one is given to him to award to someone of his choice?

Have you seen the pay checks and buy outs.
I’m against paying players but it’s shameful that Butch Jones (an intern) is making more than players will.

Who knows. Between the ticket prices, concessions money and donations, you would think we would have tons of money. Yet they'll increase our season tickets this year for some reason.

The student debt crisis is be because students are taking loans out for apartments, townhomes, etc as well as tuition. They are taking loans out on unimportant stuff.

There are more than 85 college athletes on campus........

Um, this is not why there is a crisis. Out of state tuition at UT is around $30k annually. Even in-state is $10k or so. You add that up over 4 years plus book expenses and other fees. Even if you had a job that you were fortunate enough to earn decent money at, it wouldn't pay for an apartment and food.

...anyway...

They currently get the same scholarship, right?
