And the programs actually gives the players the opportunities to play, get their education, get their notoriety and exposure for not only the nba but for other employment opportunities. Nah, players get enough already imho.
Um, this is not why there is a crisis. Out of state tuition at UT is around $30k annually. Even in-state is $10k or so. You add that up over 4 years plus book expenses and other fees. Even if you had a job that you were fortunate enough to earn decent money at, it wouldn't pay for an apartment and food.
...anyway...

That's not a bad idea but when would they have time to work? And what companies would be willing to work around their crazy schedules. I hate the whole "well they get a free education and a place to live" argument. They bust their ass every day and put their body on the line to make these schools and coaches millions upon millions of dollars. They should receive a stipend and imo the only way it will work and be fair is if it's the same amount across the board. If you play football for a FBS team you automatically get an X amount of money. 1 time payment each semester. Dont matter if you play for Bama or Vandy or FIU. Theres ways they could make it work.
At Tennessee ($5,666), Auburn ($5,586) and Mississippi State ($5,126), cost-of-attendance stipends will provide student athletes with more than $5,000 in extra spending money this school year.
