Barnett is not that gifted physically. In the NFL he'll be undersized and slow for his position.
Kamara and Sutton on the other hand are elite athletically.
I always go with the better athletes when it comes to projecting to the NFL. The likelihood guys like Barnett (high effort guys who aren't the most gifted athletically) become stars is low.
NFL ceiling not as high as those 2. Barnett has definitely been our best performer this year. But he isn't our best player. That distinction goes to Cam Sutton or Alvin Kamara.
Anyone else see this on SEC Now last night? Greg McElroy and Marcus Spears were kinda fooling around during a segment and McElroy let it slip that he likes Alvin Kamara's NFL potential as much Leonard Fournette. He said he would go in the 2nd-3rd round but someone would be getting a major steal. Really gushed about him being a beast at the next level. He also said that Cam Sutton is the second best player on the team after Kamara.
Can't say I disagree. I love the NFL potential of both guys. Alvin really took his game to the next level this year. Transformed his body to be more explosive than he was last year. And he really showed the nation what he could do in that game against A&M. I've already been on the record saying he'll be a pro-bowl RB in the NFL. His ceiling is Marshall Faulk-esque.
And obviously Cam will be a star in the NFL. The guy just exudes NFL All-Pro. Hopefully he comes back strong in a few weeks, kills at the Senior Bowl and combine, and goes in the first round like he deserves.

Pump the brakes op. Kamara is the 3rd leading rusher on our team with a total of 313 rushing yards. He does have 260 passing yards, but one outstanding game vs TAMU doesn't make him Marshall Faulk or a NFL All Pro. You throw those accolades around way too loose my friend. Let's start by hoping he gets drafted by a great offensive minded coach at the next level that will use his skills appropriately. Also, we need to hope he can stay healthy at the next level as well.
The #2 SEC team will likely be in either the Sugar or Orange Bowl, based on conference bids.
- Sugar Bowl SEC #1 vs. Big 12 #1
- Orange Bowl ACC #1 vs. SEC #2, Big Ten #2, or Notre Dame
Not sure that means the loser of the SECCG gets the nod as the second best team in the SEC. That will likely go to the second best team in the west, imo.
