Greenland

As I said, I was embarrassed for him (and of course for the USA). For over an hour he just insulted the audience members over and over, and bragged about himself, often lying in painfully obvious ways.

He meandered from topic to topic, many with no connection to one another, much less even tangentially to the event. Had that been Biden the MAGA cult would have demanded he be placed in a straight jacket.

You were doing actually fairly well for a few weeks, I think I might have liked a post or two of yours. Now, you're back to the irrelevant TDS stuff.

Stay on point and you'll do better. Just my take. Just imagine that Obama or Biden was doing this stuff.

You’ll get no argument from me that he’s reckless and needs to find a mute button so that he doesn’t create as many problems as he solves. But the TACO stuff is just dumb.

TACO, from Politico:

"In the last three months, Trump has announced plans to raise levies on various countries — Canada, China, France — at least five times in an attempt to force countries to bend to his foreign policy goals. Not only has the White House not executed those tariffs, but it has pulled back other existing or planned duties on certain foods, furniture and computer chips to address concerns about domestic prices.

Trump’s latest — and most high-profile — walk back, on tariffs he had threatened on eight European countries over Greenland, comes just one day after markets plummeted on the news of a potential transatlantic trade war. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent spent much of Tuesday trying to argue that the markets were spooked over Japanese bonds, not Greenland, but Trump’s own remarks at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland — coupled with the tariff reversal and an ensuing stock market rally — suggest otherwise.

For Trump, it underscores the diminishing returns and growing risks of wielding his favorite diplomatic tool in 2026, in the build-up to midterm elections that are expected to hinge on the economy and cost-of-living pressures that would be exacerbated by new trade wars and market instability.

“The affordability issues have become a huge problem that they have to grapple with,” said a former USTR official who currently lobbies the administration on trade policy and was granted anonymity to speak candidly. “The public has linked tariffs and affordability.”

But while business leaders are relieved the White House has pulled back from its most extreme tariff plans, they caution that there are economic consequences from the whiplash. Even some of those closely aligned with Trump are warning that the threats, alone, are taking a toll — especially when directed at the country’s most reliable trading partners.

“The erosion of sentiment in allied countries toward doing business in the United States is real,” said U.S. Chamber of Commerce Executive Vice President Neil Bradley. “That alone carries consequences.”

Just taking him over night was not on the radar.

The point I am making is he throws darts at a board and some he purposely decides to land and the people who deal with him never know which dart he will intend to actually land.

Sun Tzu tackles this strategy and anyone who wants to understand Trump should read his teachings.

He also hates war and says it repeatedly which is a major philosophical stance with Sun Tzu.

It was all very George H.W. Bush like, and still is.

Trump already taco'ing on Greenland today, one day after claiming victory with the concept of a framework of a deal which is largely what already existed except for perhaps allowing us to pillage their minerals (which is contested because there's no actual agreed upon "deal", just typical trumpian bluster.

From Wall Street Journal:

The lack of clarity raises the prospect that the chaos of the past few days, which jarred markets and stress-tested trans-Atlantic diplomacy, could return in the near future. When asked on Thursday whether the U.S. would acquire Greenland, Trump didn’t completely rule it out. “I don’t know if I can say that, but it could be,” he told Fox Business. “I mean it’s possible, anything is possible. But in the meantime we’re getting everything we wanted.”

Do a legit search on the reaction to trump at Davos. You found the fringe.
Well, maybe it helped you get out of your bubble.

I did see them all scrambling to get a handshake from him, and Gavin crying that they didn't respond poorly. Does that count? (How many of them ponied up the billion dollars to get in his club?)

When you learn how to do business from mob bosses, you act like a mob boss. Shouldn’t surprise anyone.

It's weird you are trying to minimize actual historical facts, just because Trump is involved with it now.

I don't agree with how Trump is doing it, but other Presidents and their Administrations have considered purchasing, annexing, or taking Greenland by force

Dude has a bad case of TDS and the characteristics of a uber leftist.

They don't care, it's all politics, prestige, and perceived economic B.S.
Now,Mr. MAGA Man, the funny thing is, I;m not opposed to Agent Orange acquiring Greenland. It's a rock coated in ice. If you melt the ice, not much land i
to show for it. For me, Mr. MAGA Man, its not what Trumpon is doing, it's how he is doing it. Same thing, far as I'm concerned with deporting illegal immigrants, base on what I was eyewitness to when I lived out west.
Basically, mean tweets. Got it

That's hilarious.

Have you watched trump speak at Davos? And the reaction? About as far from respect as one could get.

That really was funny, thanks for the laugh.
they respect Trump, especially after what they saw happen in Venezuela. World leaders were eager to meet him at the new Peace Board. Trump is working a deal where he gets what he wanted out of Greenland without costing the US a cent and Denmark continues to spend hundreds of million per year on the welfare of the Greenlanders.

No one... NO ONE had respect for demented, crooked Joe Biden or idiot, narcissus Obama, The lefts attack on Trump are not logical or valid, just comical and lame

There is nobody in history for whom I’d be willing to debase myself this much.

For your future self, please have some dignity.

If there's any respect, its akin to that of a dog turd on the sideway and taking effort not to step in it.

Here's current status of countries accepting a "Board of Peace" invite, a real who's who.
  • Bahrain
  • Morocco
  • Argentina
  • Armenia
  • Azerbaijan
  • Belgium
  • Bulgaria
  • Egypt
  • Hungary
  • Indonesia
  • Jordan
  • Kazakhstan
  • Kosovo
  • Mongolia
  • Pakistan
  • Paraguay
  • Qatar
  • Saudi Arabia
  • Turkey
  • United Arab Emirates

Tell me, given that we already have a United Nations, what is the benefit of this board of peace other than fluffing trump's ego?

I wonder how many trump pumpers actually watch versus keep their head in the sand?

No one respects Trump. They are afraid of him. There is a big difference and lauding the fear factor isn't something to be proud of. MAGA sheeple will love it and eat it up though. Taking it in the A for Trump is their MO.
