Greenland

it is up to Greenland if they want to be part of the US, not a NATO decision. If Trump makes them an offer they can't refuse NATO can do nothing about it.
What the f*** are you talking about. Greenland is literally part of Denmark. Denmark has the final say, Bubba.

If Trump is stupid enough to invade Greenland militarily, Article 5 of NATO is enacted. Period.

Its self governing but relies on Denmark in part.

That is not true, each country would have to elect to engage or not engage. None of those countries would do jackshit and jack left town.

There would be some strongly worded e-mails. Europe is not only toast but its burnt toast.

The tweet I posted nor myself said anything about Trump "invading" Greenland. Greenland is currently self-governing and can vote for independence....they want independence. What exactly is Denmark going to do to stop Greenland voting for independence?

The government of Greenland has stated it does not want to become part of the United States and emphasized that the island is “not for sale.” Many polls show a large majority of Greenlanders oppose joining the U.S. and want control over their own future, whether that means remaining with Denmark or moving toward full independence.

....and Saban said 'I am not going to be the Alabama coach' before he was the Alabama coach....

We should probably liberate Greenland. We are on a roll. Strike while the iron is hot etc.

Those oppressive Dutch have had their day.
Danish people are not Dutch.🙄

And oppressive? We just abducted the President of Venezuela.

We are the oppressors of the world.

Better to be the Oppressor than then Oppressed.
Real question, what is your actual thoughts on what happened in Venezuela?
Why are you against the US running a Prefect, Clean military operation successfully capturing a Narco Terrorist?
I know we are terrible, the US is evil; but what is your reason behind being against the actions we took other than not liking the Leader of America.

Dutch? Greenland is a territory of Denmark
Lmao. Dutch, Danes. What's a couple million white Europeans between friends? No idea what the Hell I was thinking. Big difference between Vikings and flowers/wooden shoes. Both countries have cool cultures though IMO. Some of the greatest engineers in the world are Dutch. Without them, there would be no smartphones or modern chips...because 1 company builds the machines that can produce them for the entire world. This video is crazy.

-Trump loves him some right wingers. Here's some unsolicited advice: let the Venezuelans choose their own f****** leader. In a free and fair election. Isn't this everything that our country stands for?
They would have never had the opportunity to host a free and fair election without our actions that freed them from Maduro.

-Venezuela is absolutely a sovereign country. It doesn't matter if the leader of Venezuela is duly elected or not, it's still a sovereign country. Dictators reign over many sovereign countries.
I've never argued that their government was anything but illegitimate. I support the move that Trump made... but now the hard part comes.
I said the same thing, but you are spewing how Oppressive we are "We just abducted the President of Venezuela. We are the oppressors of the world"

-
Read my posts from this morning. I praised our military and gave kudos to Trump.
But now the hard part comes in the aftermath of snatching Maduro.
With Trump saying we're taking over Venezuela's oil reserves *and* "running their country", it looks like we're back in the business of "nation building".
Ready to send your kids or grandchildren in the military down there to die for this?
So are you for this or against this? You support the military's actions; give "Kudos" to Trump; but then you act like we are terrible oppressors?

Is the mixed messaging specifically hate for Trump? Would you be okay with it if there was a different Leader in America in charge of this mission? How do we give Kudos to the millitary/Trump and then bash the same President in other post pertaining to the topic. I'm just confused.

They already are a global superpower which is why the continue on without any or limited connection to the global financial system. The Ukraine is mostly not valuable, the people are a negative asset.

Best course of action is the same I said 3+ years ago, flatten it, push those people into Poland. Problem resolved.
Easy to see your on team trump .

Not entirely accurate...

Members of NATO have traded shots from time to time without Article 5 being invoked. Check out Greece and Turkey throwing shots each other's way if you don't believe me.

But you're an idiot if you think Trump is going to invade Greenland. They'll come willingly and Denmark won't say a damn thing since they are a self ruling area that aligns with Denmark at the moment. If they vote to go independent then turn to us, Denmark doesn't have a say in the matter.

And lest we forget the Falkland War that should have triggered Article 5, but didn't.

The only time Article 5 has ever been invoked was in September 2001.

No way on God's green earth are you suggesting with a straight face that Denmark doesn't invoke Article 5 if Trump invaded Greenland.

And if Trump doesn't really mean what he's threatening, how about don't do it.

Denmark would test the waters, get a very cold response and fold.

Moot point. And wrong. The United States is *obligated* to defend Greenland from any invaders. If we break our commitment to NATO, then the world order is out the window. Our allies are no longer our allies.

Are we going to attack our own allies like Denmark? Jesus Christ. How arrogant and amazingly stupid that would be. And what for? You ready to send your children or grandchildren in harms way to potentially die for a war over Greenland? Really?

You really support that?

Russians, in particular, would be dancing in the streets.

Who's next in the merry fantasyland of King Trump... Panama? Canada? This kind of absurd rhetoric is obscene. All coming from the Orange Menace who promised you "no new wars".

If Trump were to actually follow through on his empty threats and take Greenland by force, we'd see IMMENSE blowback from not only every country that has been our ally, but also from within our own country. Vietnam protests wouldn't hold a candle to the wave of protests that would ensue.

But now you support open warfare against our own allies, huh?

And, oh BTW, the US is the only country to have ever used Article 5 of NATO following 9/11.

“The Kingdom of Denmark - and thus Greenland - is part of NATO and is therefore covered by the alliance’s security guarantee. We already have a defense agreement between the Kingdom and the United States today, which gives the United States wide access to Greenland,” Frederiksen said.

“I would therefore strongly urge the United States to stop the threats against a historically close ally and against another country and another people who have said very clearly that they are not for sale,” she added.

Greenlandic Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen said on social media that Trump’s remarks were “very rude and disrespectful.”
