this is the first year that ive really seriously followed recruiting, so forgive me if this is a no-brainer but can anyone think of a year where the top recruiting class in the nation was head and shoulders above everyone else? im not talking about just a few stars ahead im talking total domination of the board and nobody else was even close and it could be considered the strongest class ever. follow up question, can you tell me how well that class did in their four years and what the team accomplished with all of that talent. just curious[/QUOTE
go mavs
gah i hate the damn mavs lol, weird, i went straight to the second page and saw your name, and was like please dont tell me that stands for what i think it does
thats the kinda class im talkin about, a class that looked sick on paper, thats ridiculous, i wonder how many 5 stars there were that year, couldnt have been much more than 30 so they probably had nearly half of them
On a related note, what are our best classes? Production wise?
I have been scouring the net for lists, unsuccesfully. I am guessing 1989, 1991, 1994, 1995, 1996, and 1999 were all top-notch. Maybe wrong though. What about others/earlier?
lee otis played. I have him on DVD making a tackle at 1978 Notre Dame game. One of the greatest defensive plays I've ever seen.
He ran down Vegas Ferguson from behind after a long run to make tackle
Common sense. There's a reason they recruited a bunch of know names that dominated while they were at Nebraska then went back to being no-names after that.
Sorry, I did not remember that. Thanks for the correction, Larry. That must have been the first game in South Bend.

Where they failed with much stricter drug testing.I think your common sense is betraying you. Though not quite the NFL factory that UT is, many of those 'know' names from Nebraska made it to the NFL. Not to mention the NCAA and Nebraska instituted drug tests in the 80s (which did result in some players being dismissed). But if what you say is valid, then common sense would lead one to believe that teams like Iowa and Wisconsin must be full of steroid users too.

No chance there's such a monstrous drop off if that team was nearly as legitimate as you seem to think.
