Great win but OC must do much better

We have to run some. Don't know what balance if plays were but running is important. Even if you don't gain that much. We gashed them on over the top plays looks like they were set on stopping the run, where they got beat last week. Jmo
We got just enough on the ground to keep them honest. I bet Steele didn't believe we'd go deep near as many times as we did. Hell I couldn't believe it lol. Helton and Steele had a chess match going yesterday and Helton check mated him.

I was impressed with the 2-3 ropes JG threw into tight windows. That told me a lot about his confidence, the coaching he’s receiving and the relationship he’s building with JJ and others. We already knew he had the arm strength but never got to see it until yesterday. If he has that kind of ability to put the ball into small windows as well as throw the deep ball as well as he did yesterday, look out next year and even his senior year. Something special could be brewing.

Geez dude give it a rest. Helton actually called a hell of a game IMO. He took many shots down the field which were setup by trying to pound the ball for 1 yard gains. We lulled them to sleep and got 1-1 matchups on the perimeter.

Glad someone else could see what we were doing offensively. JG doesn’t throw for 328 yards if we weren’t committed to the run yesterday. People forget Auburn’s defensive line could be the best in the SEC and although we didn’t run the ball as well as we would have liked. Helton knew we had to keep running the ball to keep auburn honest and we did. Our pass protection was pretty good yesterday also so that gives me hope that run blocking will get progressively better over are last 6 games. Overall, it’s a great day to be a VOL!!

1st and 10....handoff off tackle routinely ended up resulting in 2nd and 10 or more.

2nd down was normally some type of swing pass to rb

3rd and long was throw it up for grabs and hope our wr’s make the 50/50 play. Today they did!

All im saying is this type of play calling is not going to lead to continued success. There is no doubt that we ran some well thought out plays that exposed their defense but overall, we have got to mix it up more than we did in this game. Great win, GO VOLS!! Hope we continue to improve...and that includes the coaching.

Those so called up for grabs throws were actually back shoulder throws that are very hard to defend when executed properly. You should know that if you watch a decent amount of football

I'm glad he adjusted when running up the middle didn't work. However, 3rd and 11, run up the middle?
I'm glad JG released the ball quickly.
I'm glad JG got up after those hits.
I'm glad we have 5 star Morris coming in (and hopefully other 5 stars)

I thought we mixed it up pretty good. I do think JG played well but when he is faking a hand off I feel it is easy to read, he exaggerates the hand off too much when he's keeping it. If I could figure out what he was going to do I'm sure the guys playing the game could see it too. Not complaining, just hoping he works it out

Yeah JG took some BRUTAL shots yesterday but I'll be damned if he just didn't keep getting up and continued to stand tall in that pocket. The kid is a warrior

Ive been most critical of the oc/hc due to offensive gameplaning. However, that wasnt the case yesterday. There could be many factors influencing it now, including player not having all the plays etc. All you can ask is that the coaches put together a game plan that is effective and gives the team a chance to win. They did that yesterday and it worked against a solid defense.

Way to man up! I like you have been less than complementary of most things VOL lately. I have already posted that I am choking on crow feathers. I think our "boat" should be loaded with people who saw a different team yesterday.

The best part about deep throws, that **** worked almost every single time yesterday. It got to the point that when JG threw it deep, I knew it was a completion before the camera panned to the reciever.

I will be sure to give it a rest when we become less predictable. All im saying is there is plenty of room for improvement. Yall acting like im screaming for him to be fired or something. Make no mistake about it, im a happy camper we finally got a win, i just want more of em.
IMO UT is still in the learning stages and we have a ways to go. After this game there is no doubt that we are getting better. I haven't seen this game on film yet but Auburn clearly has or is beginning to have an offensive melt-down. UT's defense is getting better. The offense is slower than the defense at this point. A win on the road against Auburn, #21, will benefit UT immensely. 6 wins is more reachable and the additional practice will be an added bonus. No competitor in the SEC is gonna give you anything. It's a matter now of who wants it most and continued good practices and avoiding injuries is key. Also UT was +3 in TO's in this game. Steady on the throttle and playing smart will get us the 6 wins.

Oh no Pruitt just said we need to be more efficient on first and second down. What an idiot, doesnt he know were just using those downs to set us up for success later??

Its a joke. Yall some angry mugs for us to be coming off a big win. Lighten up

Early in the game I was dogging Helton, but once he started going downfield I was good with the game plan.
I still get aggravated with the number of little swing passes, but I think he's trying to use the short safe throws as the running game since the OL struggles to open holes

Yup, it was a sight to behold and I agree 100%. By the 4th quarter whenever he lobbed a deep ball I just knew it would be money. He put the ball where it needed to be and trusted his WRs to go up and get it. These kids were playing for each other yesterday. Their confidence must be through the roof this morning.

Few things are as dangerous as a team that believes they're good enough. We may not be a great team but we are good enough to make a bowl game.

Steele was caught off-guard no doubt as were many UT fans. UT simply executed a brilliant passing game which is the 1st time such has happened lately. Poor Auburn, Fitz blistered 'em one the ground last week and UT scorches them through the air this week. Their real problem is the inability to score points. It happens to the best of them.

I've been as hard on him as anybody has but he called a great game yesterday. Don't think he's been the problem.

Other than you don't run off guard with eight in the box play calling is overrated. If you have the studs and they execute everything usually works out well enough to win. Different people have been calling Alabama's plays for years and they've all been successful. It's not because they're geniuses.

The team that showed up yesterday caught everyone off guard lol You could just see how bad the players and the coaches wanted it from the start. Auburn came out fast and tried to smother us early but we got to halftime only down 4 and we came out that locker room swinging and owned them the second half. It seemed like JG got better with each hit he took. Pruitt is turning these kids into warriors.

I applaud Pruitt and Helton for loosening the reins. I agree on all the first down runs. Though I think they need to throw in some variety, I think it's Pruitt sticking with his mindset that we're gong to be a tough minded and physical team, and not swaying from that, even though JG was money all day in the passing attack. Pruitt post game comments on things need to improve upon were to "finish out the game better" and "must be able to run the ball". So, I think it's Pruitt looking past this game, saying who we want to be next year and the year after, and not deviating, even though we're not a great run blocking team.

The first down play calling is still hurting this team. When they have the big package in with two tight ends there's nine in the box and outside is one on one. They are not taking advantage of the one on one enough on first down with play action. Also as spotted by friends watching the game JG's finger wiggling behind his back is signaling run and giving away direction too. That's stupid. Why would you tip off your run when you can't run anyway. Play calling was slightly better but still too conservative. Big interception and momentum swing results in two runs and a bad pass. Right there was a chance to go big or at least show a new misdirection in a play instead of run up the middle.

Predictability is not necessarily a bad thing if you execute and don't make mistakes. Hell, Bama, maybe until this year, has been fairly predictable. You know what they're going to do, the problem is stopping it. Lombardi in his day would just about tell what the play was and dare you to stop it..

Pruitt seems to be building this type of team/culture. Today was a glimpse of things to come. We need more jimmies and joes and we need to become much more disciplined. Obviously we aren't there yet, but with time and recruiting we'll get there..

Chandler does well with those passes into the flats. I’m just glad we’re finally giving it to him in space more than once or twice a game. Chandler is a game changer, the more times we can get him touches the better off this offense will be. I was really glad that Pruitt stick with just chandler and Jordan yesterday. I think that helps in building continuity between our backs and the o line. Btw, shoutout to drew Richmond. He played well yesterday and I saw several signs of him being fired up (he even went to give Jauan a chest bump after a big play). That’s a huge sign that the team and certain players are buying in and are becoming comfortable with the game plan and coaches. Richmond even thanked Vol nation in the locker room video after the game. We all have knocked on Richmond but I’ll be the first to say I’m proud of his play yesterday!!!

I understand setting up PAP but you’re right, it seemed 2nd qtr especially we would run into the teeth of D. I personally like chandler or Jordan runs to the outside, where they can use speed. JG and receiving corp showed out and OL did good up front to allow that.
