Great players pulling a Mike Gundy move ?

I get tired of all the virtue signaling covering up terrible ideas. Fans are 3rd of 4th? See how long the sport lasts without them. I bet you're one of those people who didn't think defunding the police would lead to a rise in crime or that printing trillions of dollars in extra cash would lead to inflation. The sport is sick. Our society is sick. Coach Prime knows what I'm talking about.

I hope you aren’t a betting person. You would lose.

The sport will die unfortunately.
I do think it can, FWIW. I can't predict. I look at the level of interest, for instance, on semi-pro baseball, basketball, and football already existing. There is almost none.

Normal business "thought" is that the brand is all that matters, but that really is a philosophy for dumb people that can ignore substance. Not everybody is like that.

Also normal business thought includes this idea that you can "take your brand" and make a lot more money through your brilliant plan. They are making so much money now that maintaining the status quo might actually be a huge achievement. business people really struggle when they are in that situation. You'll recall NASCAR as a great example of a business that went through this exact situation.

Teams top players now copying coaches move to start rumors they are entering the portal & then all the sudden they are getting a new massive NIL deal & tweet how much they love their school ? Will this be the norm ? The Tank Bigsby Law

Smart on their part if it's going that way, gut wrenching for us fans but they should get all they can while they can I say. I'm not paying for it so why care lol
That’s exactly what they are doing!
“Gonna hit the portal “, “what, you gotta deal for me”?

Its sad to say but..... How many teams, like Tn, who are in the process of rebuilding will lose good players to NIL? There will be, and are, that are invested in this and will no doubt pull those players. College football is all about money and visibility. If I am a great football player on a weaker team and an Alabama or Georgia comes knocking it wouldn't be too hard to get me interested. I know there will be alot of disagreement but I belive its the total reality of college football now. Why stay at a school who is struggling when i could go to a school that is successful and gets tons of visibility? Sadly, there is no such thing as a truly comiited football player anymore. I know, there are going to be thise who say they are and you are right. Those that are truly comitted are in school for the education and know that they will have an ordinary life after football. It will be the highly recruited ones that come and get a tast of SEC football and start looking at the opportunity to grow. To'oto'o ring any bells????

No this sport and many others that are over the top popular will/are dying because there is no amateurism left in them. However, there are still some sports games that are and will be played "for the love of the game" by amateurs. We who still love the amateurism of sports will just have to learn to love these sports and their players.

The biggest issue with college ball (and sports in general) is you are cutting off the fans. Fans used to be emotionally invested and had pride in their teams. You can't as a fan anymore. You have to constantly remind yourself this is not your life, not your decision, and it has nothing to do with you. You have no say and never have. I just hit 50 and am seriously questioning why I spent all these years even watching at this point? What was the point? IDK? It used to be fun.

If you need to constantly remind yourself that college football isn’t about you, or…upon the realization that CFB isn’t about you, question why you watched CFB up to this point, your priorities might be misplaced.

Coach Prime rarely attended class at FSU, and Jackson State got some talented players from the transfer portal.

That tweet is about as hypocritical as it gets.

I wonder If the increased professionalization of college sports will cause fans to view them as just "Triple A" ball instead of their own unique identity. I just don't see people making the financial, emotional commitments to what's perceived as a minor or developmental league. The dynamics in the sport had gotten so exploitative in terms of how revenue was distributed something was going to have to change but where does the road we're on wind up?

I am thinking more like Double A - some weeks Single A.
What's to prevent them from trying to adapt a one and done - like basketball - It is a very slippery slope and pride and loyalty has historically been part of the glue that held it all together.
It used to be I will give my all to Tennessee - now it is I will give my all to the highest bidder or give my all to Tennessee for a year, then Oklahoma for a year, maybe Ohio State for a year.

Agree it may lead to more golf and fishing in the long term.

Poor implementation of the targeting rule has already done more to harm Football than NIL ever will.

NIL puts the money on the table rather than under the table. That actually is better for College Football. No longer do these youngsters feel the pressure to be sleazy and cheat.

Now if we can only figure out a way to stop coaches from teaching players to flop for extra timeouts. That impacts the integrity of the game between the lines.

I saw one of our players pretending to flop right next to a coach who was on the sidelines. When the coach noticed it he immediately got him to get up and to stop taking shots at the teams that flop. It was funny how it happen. Our guy was on the hash marks that are painted on the sidelines and slowly started laying down at the feet of the coach. Worst flop ever. I’m glad he was doing it to get a reaction from the coach. I’m also glad the coach reacted the way he did too.

Why don't you hop on your own board and see if you have more than 7 recruits committed? Rather than lecture to the people on here.
I am pretty sure college football is also about the fans who watch it live and on TV every week, otherwise you would be having Rugby scrums all over the country and club teams.

Why don't you opine about 79th in the country in recruiting - 6 non kickers committed with a day to go prior to early signing.
Looks like you live on this board and I have never put anyone on ignore - if you have " useful " input or opinions weigh in -
if you are just on here to give people grief or critique UT fans, players, coaches - it would seem you have bigger fish to fry back home.

How often do you post on the Florida sites ?

Instead of pocketing out cash from the offering plates at mega churches (Clemson), in McDonalds bags (TN), with debit cards at casinos (Auburn), new cars (Bama, OSU), the money is out in the open.

Don’t act like this hasn’t been happening for decades.

I’m about tired of hearing the pearl clutching. Quit whining. Quit acting high and mighty. Get your head out of the sand.

V, B
While you’re not wrong. The amounts are significantly more and the amount of kids getting paid is also more. I think there’s probably a better way to do it but I’m not sure what it is. Idk if I would say it will ruin the sport but it will fundamentally change the sport and some programs will be left behind; sadly I think Tennessee is one of them.

That's hilarious, coming from the biggest "look at me" player of the 80s and 90s
