Grant Gator chomping deserves its own thread!

I was at the game, close to our bench and heard racial slurs. I’m not going to sit here and say that’s definitely what he was referring to, but I heard racial slurs and other derogatory comments. My hatred for Florida surpassed Alabama tonight. I was treated like dirt most of the game, by the end of the game I was pretty drunk still and I rubbed it in as much as I could to the people heckling me the entire game

Florida fans are the golden standard of class.

How does that surprise you? I'm sure some of our fans do the exact same thing to other SEC rivals. I'm not proud of it by any means, but everyone has fans that take things too far.

I never said that it was terrible. I said that it's not a good look, that Grant is better than that, that it (the Chomp) is low class. All of those comments made at those upset with me for making my original comment.
My humble opinion is that "low class" is taking it too far. These are kids that are passion driven like most of us. Spot them a misstep, I think overall they've been great sportsmen. Taunting is never sportsmanlike. I do hope CRB will address it, but there's no way I'm going so far as to call these fantastic kids low class, nor should anyone else.

Looks like the Basketball Team was doing this...

You can get away with it only if you have the talent!

This team has been as good to the fans by working their tails off and playing their backsides off every game.
If there is ever some kind of controversy, I support them. We would be wise to pick our battles and not make
a mountain out of a molehill in my opinion.

All those fans were gator chomping at them all night like it was some kind of evil voodoo curse power or something.

Tennessee stood strong in the face of all the hateful slurs and rude gestures directed against them.

Tennessee did what they went to the state of Florida to do yesterday and that's -- win.

They didn't want to be rude and risk the Florida fans thinking the team was ignoring them just because they were
focused on winning the game during game time, so by doing the chomp after the game, it showed the Florida fans
that they indeed noticed them. If anything, the whole state of Florida should be grateful for the validation they were given
in that moment. Lesser teams would have been too tired to bless them with that service after the game and probably would
have just proceeded to the lockers, leaving the opponent's fans feeling ignored. That's the kind of conscientiousness you just
can't take for granted while it's here because you'd look back when it's gone and wish you appreciated it!

Now don't your gator football players do disrespectful things when they win at opponents fields like at FSU-Even your own football coach (Mullins) called that disrespectful when his players came to the center of the field with the Gator flag and were going to stick in the ground at FSU on the FSU logo. The problem is here sir or mam you turn a blind eye to what disrespectful actions Florida football players and basketball players dish out . Plus you might want to watch the SEC network post game interview from yesterday and how a Tennessee basketball player heaped praises on Coach White's coaching strategy and Florida players defensive effort and shooting effort -that's classless -no that's honoring your opponent with dignity. .

I mean obviously we don't want to make a habit of it, but it's in the rearview now.
Right? At least it was the very same gesture they were given that they responded with in kind.
Fans chomped at players, players chomped at fans. It all came full circle. It was two-way communication.

Did Schofield get specific about what they were saying? And don't the seats at Florida's little gym look closer to the bench than they are at any other arena? They sit right on top of you. What a little dump.

No. He said specifically he wouldn't repeat what was said but it's just a game and people shouldn't say inhumane things like that (quoting from memory so not word for word)

Oh, the irony... Florida called Tennessee "toothless" and cried about Tennessee chomping them in the same breath!
It's the team with the teeth that chomps! Gators didn't have any teeth, so she can correct her statement to toothless Florida fans.

Florida got about 10 straight wide open 3 point shots. That had something to do with it too.
Absolutely, which was in large part due to their roster makeup and gameplan...Tennessee adjusted to it and did much better the 2nd half, but Florida had a good gameplan and executed it well.

Isn’t this what rivalries are suppose to be about? We don’t like each other and we both know it. They do the same thing in football whenever they win, they go antagonize the fans. So I say, no harm no foul.
