Gran Gone

Indeed, but you never know how this will effect the kids he was recruiting.

We have such a need to get great players and catch up to the elite teams in the conference that even a minor slip can set us back.

Florida is losing Charlie Strong tomorrow likely, Alabama is likely losing Kirby Smart or Kevin Steele. LSU just lost some coaches, it happens to every team in the conference.

Ever thought of the fact that there is more than one good coach out there that can recruit in South Florida? It obviously has escaped you.

You guys are slow, I said "minor slip". Obviously you can't read.

This I know.

You guys think that I'm overreacting, I'm not. Gran is a big loss, he can and will be replaced, UT will be fine in the future without him.

It could hurt us with this years class.

Saban loses assistants on a regular basis (including former National Recruiter of the Year Lance Thompson to UT), and he still lands top classes every year.

The sky isn't falling. If Gran is the only coach who can recruit south Florida, then UF wouldn't have top 5-10 classes every year.

Yea, I also heard some of our recruiting gurus on here claim that they thought losing Gran might affect our recruitment of one player in this class. I'm not sure we'll be able to recover.

So, with the last staff, we blamed execution on the coaches. Now with this one we blame it on the players?

If you are blaming him for ST play then he has to get credit for running back play. Point is, that Gran is a good coach. Irreplaceable, no.

this sucks. you can't build a championship program with half your staff leaving every year. will this be a one time thing, or will we have to put up with this after every season? dang just ruined my day

Volquest.com is reporting that Tennessee running backs coach Eddie Gran is not on the road recruiting with head coach Lane Kiffin as scheduled, but has left for Florida State University.

Volquest quote committed recruit Michael Palardy as saying Gran called to tell him "some things have changed" and he would talk to him to explain. Palardy said he was expecting Kiffin now to be joined by Ed Orgeron.

what do u think of this gran said he had to talk to him????

well hopefully if ALABAMA loses Kevin Steele, then at least we still have a shot at Bryce Brown coming to UT. He is supposed to be a signing day decision.

:eek:lol:

yes they did sign the number 1 kicker last year dustin hopkins was his name..i jus looked it up

Wasn't aware of that, I thought everything was kosher.

I read some things before the season... some quotes from Gran... that that led me to believe that he wasn't happy with the time commitment CLK expects. It wasn't direct or overt but something I picked up on.

Must have missed it, I hate that he left before year one was even over, Wilson too.

Excited to see who we can get in here though.
