The answer, to put it succinctly, is...no. We are getting killed on the boards by everyone this season. i don't understand why CBP cannot help the team with this situation. He certainly knows what he's doing. This is going to cost us dearly come tourney time if it is not corrected.

We are NOT boxing out on the boards. and it is certainly not because we're playing a lot of zone defense. Why can't our guys at least TRY to box someone out. It's like they've never heard of the concept.

Yes, and Wayne Chism...what the he** is going on out there. Instead of working hard under the boards and positioning himself to get valuable rebounds (don't tell him this, but he IS the biggest guy in the starting lineup), he is out trolling the three point stripe, looking for the easy 3ball, like a cheap imitation of Adam Morrison. WTH. The guy had exactly NO rebounds until he got 3 or 4 cheap ones in the last two minutes of the game. ah, to be a shooting guard trapped in the body of a PF, i guess.

C'mon CBP get on these guys as*** in practice and straighten them out. Soon.

It's a valid point. Remember Prarie View? It's not gonna be an issue just at tourney time. We have a tough SEC schedule ahead of us, regardless of what anyone thinks. And a little boxing out against the Zags and Memphis wouldn't hurt, either.

If I could have 1 "hope" about our team it would be that we shoot better. I would take making more shots over getting a few more boards any day. Pearl has said on the record that our rebounding problems are a concern to him, but it's to be expected since we're playing with shorter players. Our "game" isn't a power, inside, physical game. We cannot rebound with most of the teams we're playing, but our counter is that we can run the court for 40 minutes. I think if Loften would be more aggressive on offense, and Jujuan Smith would know his role, TN would be a REALLY tough team to beat.

Three possibilities here...1) they don't know, 2) they can't correct it, 3) they don't care. You tell me which it is.

BTW, i write both positive and negative posts. I prefer not to stick my head in the sand, ignore them, and hope problems will go away like some people.

I believe he might have said that rebounding was a concern to him...i DON'T believe he would have said it was to be expected. Sorry, you'll have to show me the quote on that one.

Out of your limited choices, #2 is probably the closest. This is a small team. They can work on it and get better, but a great rebounding team with size will always win that battle. We have ways to counter that. One of those ways is winning the game.

If you believe that UT can beat teams like:Memphis, Texas, Georgetown, UNC, Kansas, UCLA and the like with rebounding like that, you are in for a rude awakening.

and besides, we get outrebounded by lousy rebounding teams that don't have dominant size, also. As the man said, see the prairie view game.

Good point, Mullet. In all actuality, shooting better will actually improve the rebounding situation. We shoot a lot of 3-pointers -- a low percentage shot to begin with that is going to lead to increased rebounding opportunities (primarily for the defense, as offensive rebounds are always harder to come by).

So we're always going to struggle to rebound in this offensive style. The fact that we're shooting worse than normal magnifies the rebounding issue because we're missing more shots and creating even more rebounding opportunities.

I'm not letting anybody off the hook here, though. Especially Chism. His inability to get rebounds rivals that of Minor Wingate.

Also, there are plenty of quotes from Bruce Pearl that show that he doesn't need your advice.

What are your biggest concerns entering the season?

rebounding and d are not Pearl focal points. TOs and the 3 are the heart of his system. i would like to it change some.

the garbage about small team is confusing, given that Chuck Barkley and Jerome Lane were two of the best collegiate rebounders ever. they seem to think it's heart, positioning and effort that gets it done

First of all, i, along with everyone else, are entitled to express my opinion on related subjects.

I am happy that we won today. all-in-all, it was a pretty good performance. i would have liked to have seen Brian more involved in the game today, getting him inside feeds for more high percentage shots, but he stayed in foul trouble and it wasn't to be.

Maybe we will have a better rebounding performance next year with Jurick there to help, i don't know. We need improvement there somehow.

but, yes, a win is always nice, can't argue with that.

Yeah, man ... foul trouble was almost a killer for us today. We sure could have used Crews and Tabb. I think just having those two could have made it a much different game. B-dub is still inexperienced and will struggle against good teams like this, but I definitely like what he's shown so far.

personnel is not the issue. It's focus. ditto on D. focus isn't there because that's not where Bruce places his emphasis.

I agree with your take on D and rebounding. Focus and hustle/heart is what it's all about. You can't be napping, and you can't be lazy.

Well, if that is the case. i don't know what can be done. Everytime you see Pearl and his team on TV and interviews, he's screaming at them like a wildman. Why aren't they getting it?

i think hat's touched on it before, but this team doesn't really have any alley cats.
