Gordon's hit

Hope that ML is able to recover. Doubt that he will ever return to his previous level given the extent of the injury. One if the worst knee injuries that I have ever seen. Prelim reports are both collateral ligaments, both cruciate ligaments, fractured patella and femur. Hope the preliminary reports are wrong but I doubt it. Prayers for ML, his family and the USC family.

Leaves a lot, in fact a ton to be desired.

Vols DB Eric Gordon: RT @Lil_easy24: Its unfortunate that boy got hurt...but I was just ballin! I clapped for em and ehthing when he got up.

It was a terrible, net set of circumstances. These are all young, stupid kids. What do you expect?

You can not go high on Lattimore. He gets a ton of yards after contact. Plus with the way the NCAA is cracking down on helmet to helmet or what they deem to be helmet to helmet hits you have to get low. It wasn't dirty, it is a unfortunate consequence of having to go low to avoid penalties combined with the fact that Lattimore is tough to bring down.

LT ended the career of one of the most popular players on one of the most popular teams in the NFL. He handled it the right way, as will Gordon. It will be a play Gordon remembers the rest of his life, but it was nothing more than an unfortunate accident in a violent sport.

LT was the first player to call for help when that happened to Thiesman -

I'm not on twitter but all those people need to realize how many times Lattimore has been hit llike that before and nothing happened. It's not Eric Gordon's fault his knee was in the wrong spot and he cant be held responsible for a perfectly legal hit, that took place in a violent game. Things like this are going to happen, its sad but true. Prayers to Lattimore and Family. God bless

They should watch the highlights of the game. That's how DB's tackle. Tackle on Jacob Carter was similar, as was one on Zach Rogers. I think the severity of the hit was increased by Lathers coming across Lattimore.

Wasnt a vicious hit IMO - they should lay off Gordon, Furthermore the NCAA needs to ban those short pants players have been wearing the last couple seasons - not that it would have prevented what happened, but looking at Hunters thin race horse type legs in those pants I can almost feel it happening to him and others, after watching that game.
Those short pants remind me of bermuda shorts ! :birgits_giggle:

...as a Gamecock who posts here I have NOT heard one single fan blame Gordon for the injury. I vivit all the sites and am a member at Cockytalk and GoGamecocks. Most sing your teams praise for their reaction to Lattimore's injury. This is more than football.

I've seen comments on other websites(general sports sites) from people calling it dirty football and an illegal and ugly hit. I've been busy writing replys to all those sticking up for him. Like i told those other morons, you can't tackle an elite rb like latt with an arm tackle. You have to take out there feet. I think the comments i read were from neutral people too. So don't think that the OP is trying to say south carolina fans are saying that. Just a lot of people out there that don't know anything about football.

Thank God this guy is getting such a good education at UT.

Twitter doesn't allow you to make long sentences and the result is the shortening of both thoughts and words. Tweets are no indication of intelligence or education.

I think that tweet is bogus. Gordon wouldn't say that after an injury that serious, and he wouldn't call Lattimore "that boy."

Back when I was in high school, our quarterback was hit in a game and ended up paralyzed for life. The young man who made the hit on him had a hard time with it for many years. Its a hard thing to carry. Praying for both Lattimore's full recovery and that Gordan can find peace. Football is a violent game, unfortunately, things like this happen occasionally.

Didn't read the whole thread, but wanted to give my thoughts.

Gordon did nothing wrong. With a back like Lattimore you have to hit him low and (for lack of a better term) take out his legs. It was just an unfortunate circumstance and it happens in football.

Great class shown by your team and fans today. I have a newfound respect for the Tennessee program.

I have said several prayers for that dude since that play happened. I said it as soon as it happened that his leg was broke. Before the announcers or anyone else at the place i was at. It made me sick at my stomach for real. You hate to see this stuff but it happens. One defender going one way an upright back and another defender going the other way. Worst type of hit there is, but totally legal. Just really bad luck for Latt.

They're saying no breaks.

Well thats good. I heard somewhere that it was a broke femur and all 4 ligaments. Not that it's a good situation either way. Just hope he stays mentally strong. He's gotta be heart broken.

With the knee the ligaments could still be tore which still isn't good. Hell I'm heartbroken for him.

Nothing dirty at all. Just a freak incident based on when he got there, and how Lattimore's leg was planted.

Thanks for the post and truth. I was at the game yesterday and that was not an illegal hit. I listened to the gamecock 5th quarter show and a few USC fans were calling in saying it was an illegal hit and the radio guy who self proclaims to hate UT said no way it was perfectly legal and I really appreciated that. Most of the fans were really good yesterday, one of the best opposing atmospheres I've been to, so thanks for the day!
