good, don't have to think about playoff

And yet, as bad as the defense has played, we were still a missed field goal away from beating Georgia and sitting here today at 7-2 instead of 6-3.

I just think its a little disingenuous to sit here now and pretend like we shouldnt be disappointed in not going to the playoffs because of preconceived notions before the season that have since been proven to be wrong.
I’m disappointed. We’re fans. We always want to make the playoff.

But that doesn’t address my point. I’m pointing out that, if we’re going to adjust expectations based on an unforeseen good performance at QB, why do we not make a coinciding adjustment of those expectations based on an unexpected lack of performance (some of it caused by injuries) on defense? Because we’re fans and fans aren’t typically rational.

Preseason expectations are always off. Every year, it seems like some perceived weakness will be a strength, and some perceived strength becomes a weakness. Last year, the secondary was a concern in the preseason. It was a strength. This year, the WRs and QB were the concerns. They’ve carried the team.

Ultimately, we’ve won games because of our passing game and we’ve lost them because of our defense and tendency to shoot ourselves in the foot.
