Gonna be Pruitt.

We passed on: Miles, Taggert, Norvell, Campbell, LEACH, Fuente, Morris, Sumlim, Dantonio, Babers, Wilcox etc... So landing a coach with no experience is about as Tennessee as it gets.... Sigh :(

Most of the names on your list passed on us, not the other way around. The other half would have said no if asked. Novell, miles, and leach are the only ones who would have come. Fulmer decided we needed a defensive minded coach instead it appears. Pruitt or Venebles were the best options if that was what he was looking for

Is there any point in being preemptively negative about a coach based off maybe 10 minutes of google and a generously applied hypathetical clash of one head coach vs another in their worst losses?

Can't we just appreciate all the incredible contributions to championship teams these men have given, and be excited at the prospect that one of these men could be a great leader & coach? The 100-0 5 time national champion doesn't exist.

To completely dismantle fellow vol fans in the way I see on here is unbecoming and an overall bad look. I for one look forward to the next Top Vol and look forward to next year. Just my 2 cents.

<slow clap>

Miles: supposedly wanted to pick his own staff not just VFL’s

Taggart: wanted to be back in Florida

Norvell: rumors about a gambling issue-Arky passed on him

Campbell: huge buyout

Leach: not sure what the real story is here

Fuente: wouldn’t return calls, not even interested in FSU

Morris: they tried, but wanted TAMU and then chose Arky over UT

Sumlin: declines, close friend of Butch Jones

Dantonio: not sure if contact ever made, has pretty good job at State

Babers: not sure he was on anyone’s radar.

Wilcox: West Coast guy happy where he is

I don’t know what happened with Brohm but I thought he would have been a great hire. I really liked Morris as well.

It looks like we have Pruitt. If he can put a solid staff together, it could turn out ok. At this point, what can we do but give him a chance.

Kirby was left with a team loaded with talent from Richt. Let's see what he does when all those seniors graduate this year. Next year will tell the tale for him - though he will get a break due to the success this year.

I heard them say 31 seniors on this GA team - we find out about Kirby next year.

Yup I agree. It's just a lazy out. How is Leach not a good fit here? (Other than the fact that the administration can't get their head out of their ass). The only reason he wouldn't be a good fit is because he is a proven winner and we are a bunch of losers.

He sued his last employer.

We just fired a guy for cause for interviewing him. It would be suicide to turn around and hire him.

We didn't pass on those guys, they turned us down. I believe Pruitt will be a good hire if indeed he is the one.

I think Pruitt actually has a pretty high ceiling. Who knows what we may have. No-one knew who James Franklin was before Vandy, but all we saw was a fiery, young coach that could sell his program, and that his players would run through a brick wall for him.

The recruits love Pruitt. The dude can recruit his tail off. He's defensive minded, he's fiery, and I see a lot of similarities between Franklin and him. Not saying he's the next James Franklin, but who knows...He could be. Get Tee Martin and some other strong coaches for his staff and the sky's the limit IMO (That said, you can take my opinion and .25 cents and almost get you a cup of coffee) Go Vols.

Agreed. He would have been a home run 3 weeks ago. He will recruit great talent to UT and get them back to playing tough physical football again!

I agree. The only thing that worries me is Pruitt not being a "Tennessee Guy." Hopefully, Fulmer will hire the best coach [on his list] even if not a Tennessee Guy.

Greg Schiano was the perfect hire that the program needed for this time.
At least by now u have a coach in place so u can recruit

Butch is coming back. Schiano was a good hire. When did you mail it in? :)

Just because we're inept doesnt excuse us from trying. Every one of those names should be high on the list. If they weren't that tells us all we need to know.

You've been a pretty big face palm in this thread. You may want to post less, listen more, and learn all that you need to know.

You shouldn't post with so little knowledge of reality

1. Taggart was never an option, he is from Florida and wanted back there
2. Campbell just signed a big extension, Currie screwed that up
3. Leach was NEVER an option. No school will touch him because of his lawsuit. There is a reason he is at WSU and it's not because of coaching
4. Fuente, lol he never wanted to leave v tech
5. Dantonio lol, stupid
6.Wilcox... ha what. He is from California, he isn't leaving, he didnt like it her last time he came
6. Babers... not a good coach
7. Sumlin.. not interested, wanted out of SEC
8 morris... feel free to complain on this one
9. Norvell... not one school called him. Skeletons. Arkansas hired a guy with a losing record over a 11-2 Norvell team, think about that
10. Miles. Feel free to complain here

Brohm, I wanted him. Not complaining about Pruitt (which we are still not sure he will be our coach) but I think Brohm would have been a HR.

I’ll keep an open mind and think he can do a good job here, but I won’t trust him.

But how can we trust you when you don't even know what a cup of coffee cost these days. No way .25 almost buys you one.....:)
