Fellow brethren, we have found ourselves in a pivotal area where we need to bow up and do what we can for these boys. For us fans, the past 3 years have been nothing short of tumultuous. We are on our 3rd head coach, 3rd set of assistant coaches, and that's not even beginning to speak about the system changes as a whole. What I'm saying is that most of us honestly have no clue as to what to expect to see or feel for the upcoming season.
What I really want to ask is for you to put yourselves in the place of our boys on the team. If our heads are spinning like crazy, just imagine how they feel. Many chose to wear the Orange and White (of course they are capitalized) because of what they believed this place to be. Sadly, it has not worked out as what they were sold upon. What I do know is that the ones who are here and have stuck around are going to do what it takes to represent us as well as possible on the field. They will play their butts off and be as proud to wear the Orange as we are. It's almost as if these kids have been through multiple divorces, we just need to be there for them.
Through my rambling, what I'm asking is for all of us to hold strong and be there for these kids, we're all they have. The fans are the only constant these kids have in their lives, and I ask all of you to represent why they chose to come here and give them the satisfaction that no matter who lies and leaves them high and dry, we'll always be here for them.
Now, I'm not saying to be ignorant fans and watch our program go down the drain, to just sit on our hands and be positive about it, not what I'm asking for at all. These coaches and athletic administrators are grown men, and should be treated as such. They get paid (handsomely) for what they do, and we should hold them accountable for where we stand as well as where we are going. Be fair, give the time it takes, but I'm definitely not asking you to turn a blind eye and let things fall apart (if they do). Support Dooley and his coaches, and we will take it one game at a time.
Go Big Orange.
