Godzilla balls Pruitt

Tennessee does not have the incredible recruiting success as of late without the onside kick decision with 3 timeouts and over 4 minutes left on the clock in the bowl game vs Indiana. Agree or convince me otherwise
If you have watched Pruitt in games prior to this, especially the 2018 season, the onside kick was utilized unsuccessfully on several occasions. In each case, the play "almost" worked - maybe didn't make it exactly ten yards, ball might have grazed a player etc. They were "OH SO CLOSE". It dawned on me that somewhere, sometime, he's gonna pull this off.
The replay showed a HUGE gap in the front men for Indiana. Like Butch's Chart, there was a green light based on the formation. CJP has the team practice this (I think they said) every Thursday.

Call it ballsy, or maybe not. It's not a risk at all if the conditions reveal themselves and the players know what to do. I call it "Good Coaching" rather than ballsy.

One more point - my experience growing up - pee-wee football, jr high, high school etc. Players LOVE this kind of trick play. I can hear it now in the meeting rooms, CJP saying "Look guys - we are going to practice the "heck" out of this play, and someday we are ALL going to have some fun with it". Easy to get the team on board with it. OP right, this play was very significant and its a preview of coming attractions!!

ummmm..........Jeremy Pruitt was personally the 24/7 National Recruiter of the Year and has two more on staff (Tee and Brian) + Ansley who was runner up last year. Somehow, that tells me that they would likely have good recruiting because they are good recruiters. ;)

Does beating Indiana in a bowl really move the recruiting needle that much? Honestly that should have been 3 td win

A pretty knowledgeable sports guy explained it to me in a really good way a while back.

Right now we have the “If we had just had you” factor in recruiting. We were so close to 10-3 and a Top 10 ranking, maybe even 11-2 and a victory over Bama if JG hadn’t shaved points to pay off the mafia (only explanation I can come up with).

So right now our elite recruiters can sit in those living rooms and say “If we had just had you, here’s the difference in our season.” It’s like music to the ears of a High School kid who wants to be impactful. In many cases too, like the ones with our recent 2021 commits, “If we had just had you” is probably correct.

True but up until now, we were kind of known as the place where good recruiters go to die.

Lizards have small balls, so I’m not sure about the comparison. However, they grow when breeding. So the question is... Did Pruitts balls grow after getting raped by Indiana for most of the game?

It was the right call, but we still had time to stop them. We had all three timeouts, and our D was stopping them as they had other teams towards the end. I think the W gets the points not the play.

Still, I haven’t heard one recruit mention the comeback in the game. Just the comeback that season which would have existed without that cherry on top. I have also heard a lot mentioned Graham and Nied. So, I think there is more there that implies we could still have achieved this class without the play.

huh??? examples? Pruitt is doing well. Butch Jones came in here and landed top 10 classes at least twice. Kiffin did well. How many people came here and did poorly in order for us to earn that title?

I think our coaches being honest, and genuine with these kids goes a long way. We are not going to sign them all, and we are not going to graduate all of them. Kids do not want to ride the pine. We have to get them on campus and develop them. None the less, I love what we have been doing on the recruiting trail.
