Anyone have any personal experience with one? Good, bad, etc.?

Wife and I are considering trading in our Honda Pilot.

Grandfather has one. Been a good car for him and he drives a lot of highway miles and doesn't get too bad of gas mileage for what it is. Tires are expensive is about the only thing he can say bad or negative about.

How big is your family? We looked at them the first year they came out and were impressed but needed more room and the third row wasn't much bigger than the RAV4 we were driving. If we hadn't needed the 3rd row we may have bought one.

Wife drives a Pilot. I drive a Chevy Traverse which is the same chassis as the Acadia and the Buick Enclave. Buy another Pilot.

Now that I think about it, there are a couple of other vehicles in that category I might choose over the Acadia.

No offense to the other Piloters in the thread, but I hate our Pilot. It just feels sluggish. Not to mention it's about as vanilla as a vehicle can get. My thought is that if I'm paying for something, I should enjoy driving it. Mine's a 2009, btw, the first year they went the more modern body style.

Family size - my wife and I, plus our 11th month old, and two australian shepherds. Space-wise, it's very similar to the Pilot, not really an upgrade as far as cargo, but a big upgrade pretty much every where else.

We have 6 kids so we went with a certified used Suburban in 08. It had 16k miles but full warranty and lots of bells and whistles at half the price of a new one.

The Pilot will retain it's value much better than the GMC, it is your money.

My Pilot is only worth about 16k now, according to KBB, so it's dropped nearly 50% in 3.5 years. I don't really consider that holding its value. You're saying the Acadia will drop more than 50% by 2015? Is it just because of the name?

A car retaining half it's original sticker price in value over that time span is actually pretty good.

The Acadia is just a Traverse with different body panels and yes the name and the quality of the product in 3 years is the reason. Dealerships do not go off of what KBB says a vehicle is worth nor do banks when financing, they use NADA guides for values when determining how much money to put in a trade or how much it can be financed for.

If you want an SUV that will retain its value and you hate the Pilot, go get a Toyota 4 Runner.

Is the 4 runner the same size? Haven't looked that much, but it looked like the 4 runner only had two rows of seats

You can get a 4 Runner with 3rd row seating not sure why you want 3rd row seating for just you, your wife and 1 child and 2 dogs, but yes they are available. The 4 Runner is fairly large, I would say it is equal to or bigger than an Acadia

The only reason is the cargo room, but I suppose it's similar even without the 3rd row. The Pilot just folds down flat, and I think we've only actually used the 3rd row a handful of times.

GMC is offering 0% financing, which is a big deal (to me, at least). Doesn't look like Toyota is offering any deals on the 4 Runner.

I've got an Audi Q7, love it. You could also look at the more comparable VW Touareg. Worst part about it is pronouncing it's name.

I work in the car industry, I am in dealerships everyday but I do not sell vehicles. Checkout prices on used 4 Runners with low mileage. The one thing I will say about a 4 Runner over other similiar SUV's is they hold there money.

What's wrong with them?

Either that or the Porsche Cayenne Turbo.

Not opposed to the idea, but I assume a wee bit above my price range. I haven't looked at them at all because of this assumption.
