Gloom, despair and agony on us... (merged)

UT FB will die from lack of interest.
nah, we're the college version of Cubs and Red Sox before they started playing better. I feel like I'm back in the late 70's-early 80's again. Difference is, even when we were bad then, Johnny had players you have to game plan for...Willie Gault, Anthony Hancock, Johnny Jones. I honestly don't know where you start on offense. D's going to be probably average, but doesn't matter if you can't post 24ish points a game at minimum. Problem #1, even w/ bad QB play this year, is it was an opportunity to establish our identity w/ our OL to be at least good at something...running the ball. We didn't do that, so, we're going into another off season w/ no identity and I don't know, other than #11, what jersey number kids would want to buy for current ball club.

Tennessee wasn't a bad team from 1979-1987.

I think Pruitt returns next year. He'll be told to make some coaching changes, and return....that's my guess. I know people don't want to hear/read that. The only consistency we have is being consistently bad. Sad really!

I can't believe guys here have a hard time understanding why this "piss and moan fest" about Pruitt is happening. He's DESTROYING the UT football program...and is by far the worst head coach in Vol history. Is that reason enough? Losing at Neyland by 27 points to Kentucky of all teams? And the gap between us and Ga..Fla...and Bama getting wider and wider. A coach...in his 3rd year mind you...setting a school record for consecutive double digit losses? Of course we're gonna continue to harp on what is obviously the #1 impediment to getting out of this embarrassing free fall. Every moment Pruitt remains the head "coach" the Vol football program erodes and atrophies a little bit more. A backwoods...mildly retarded idiot who has absolutely zero clue how to win in the SEC. Yeah...let's just shut about it and accept the demise and tragic disaster of a once proud program.

I don't get excited about top recruits signing any more. I know that they will be under-utilized and poorly developed under this staff, and we'll have a plethora of threads next season asking 'why they aren't performing up to their star rating', with the same ol' cadre for Volnation posters blaming everyone and everything except the coaches.

Rinse, repeat.

Even by the standards of Volnation, this is a depressingly defeatist mindset. LOL.

We've had Top 20 recruiting classes for most years since..... I dunno......2008? Sometimes Top 10, even Top 5 recruiting classes.

So when is the last time the program finished in the Top 25? Once, I think..... since 2008.

Recruiting SHOULD translate into wins, shouldn't it? At the University of Tennessee, it doesn't. So yeah, it's hard to get excited about a great recruit signing or a great recruiting class because nothing happens beyond that.

What would happen if we hired a life long Bammer to be the head coach of the Vols? Even better from their perspective if Fulmer (the Bammers hate Fulmer) is still part of the program.

It’s what I got...’til I don’t. I ride Vol, thru thick and thin, come hell or high water. Ain’t nothing gonna make make me quit it.

Some truth here. Not from our generation (30 somethings) but our kids. My kid and my nephew have 0 interest in TN football. My son asked if Clemson and Alabama were pro and we were minor league. That one hurt.

I can't think of any kids who are big Vols fans that I know (not that I know THAT many, but still...). Me and nearly all my friends were and are.

People, if you really feel this way, nothing is keeping you from leaving, don't let the door hit you on the way out. If you think a few 1000 unhappy fans are going to change anything....well....it won't.

I just love how people like you say “don’t let the door hit you on the way out”!
Change comes from people fighting and being vocal about issues.
Just sit back drink your old fashions, eat you wrapped candies, and let us vent. You sound like an old man that hates the kids on his lawn.
The love for the university is there, just not the piss poor product on the field.

The only enjoyment I get from Tennessee football is coaching searches. They inevitably go horribly wrong, but they are fun for awhile. Soon.

It appears we may have changed the coaching search trends by not going after Freeze, not falling for the trick of firing the current guy and then start hunting the replacement. That has for sure gone bad since the day we ran of CPF... no problem with the logic he put his job on the line, but big problem with any search that ends up with a Kiffin. We did not fire him, but went rinse repeat on the replacement process, and then twice more. The current leadership team may not like having to hold pat this year, but did not go for the ANYBODY IS BETTER plan again. So next year is a miracle year or a reasoned replacement plan.... So you should appreciate the progress. We could yet get boxed in if there is some surprise findings in the investigation, but it won't be self inflicted coach hunt.

If I thought it was for a humanitarian topic, sure, but do you put this much effort at work? If you fail at work or you are late, is that your fault or your supervisor's?

After reading of Bassmasters convergence from a Debbie Downer to a Sonny Sunshine pumper, Ive decided that Im in too.

Pruitt is the man.
I done decided he’s gonna get ‘er done on the Hill.
No more bald jokes. Hairy guys take time away from cruitin to go the barber shop. Pruitt just buffs his noggin.
No more poor QB development criticism.
Maurer, Bailey, and Salter are going to be so coached up that all three will become All Americans.
Our new Offensive Line Coach (word is that it will be Pruitts brother in law) will reinstall the TVA Roadgraders.
The defense is going to be better than any Jeremy has had at UGA, FSU or Bama.
Brumbaugh was the problem. He was a meanie and Pruitt had to gently, but firmly, send him away.
Brooks is such a beast coming onto our DLine that he won’t need anyone there to help him.
We are going to a 1-5-5 defensive scheme. Just watch Lane Kiffin scheme up any passing plays against THAT.
And, you think Vandy was inventive with the kicking game?
Pruitt went out and got us this AMAZING kicker named Gus.

No but if the CEO/ manager of the company does not put an SOP in place and hold the employees to the standard it is their fault.

Wtf is this? I you’ve spent better use of your time playing scrabble or bingo than typing this crap out.
