Glad I left Georgia... [Derek Dooley running for US Senate]

Maybe he will be a good public servant. He simply wasn't head coach material.
Recognizing his incompetence as a HC, I still never put him on the hate list. Another case of bad timing for a coach search and our AD played the genetics provides hope card and it was not to be. He cannot approach the Kiffin/Pruitt place in hell group. Does not make the losses easier or OK, but our incompetent AD put him in the Fail path.

Like him or not, I do feel that Derek was simply in over his head. Therefore, I still think of him as a #VFL.

May be wrong, but didn't someone during his time here actually come up with VFL idea?

I could be completely wrong but I believe yes, he or at least the admin when DD was coach, set up the VFL program at that time.

Out of all the coaches after Fulmer, Dooley was never someone I HATED, he just got put into a place he wasnt ready for because we got dropped in the honeymoon with a very immature Kiffin.

I dont know if he knows jack squat about anything related to congress but then, Ossof certainly doesnt. Besides, Senators are not expected to know things, like house members are, thats what Senate staff are for. Senators need to manage experts and make decisions moreso than housemembers.

Always liked Dooley as a person, just not as HC at Tennessee. His parents were top-notch folks & his intelligence & outlook on history is admirable (how 'bout that, General Rommel?) My opinion is that he'd be a better Congressman than most of the clowns on the Hill. Just stay out of coaching, Derek.

The Republican primary for this will be very interesting. Buddy Carter and (especially) Mike Collins are both veteran politicians who have a lot of in-state name recognition and are super-aligned with Trump. Collins in particular is pretty well-known for his shitposting on Twitter.

I actually like Dooley as a person, not a HC.

He was way in over his head but it’s not like he tried to purposely sabotage the program.

Obviously the 3 years he was our coach were pretty miserable but he always seemed to be an outstanding human being who cared for his players. The story of what Dooley did for Daniel Hood was one that I think got a thread on this board not too long ago.

This guy had a losing record at La. Tech and somehow got hired to be an SEC football coach. Now he’s being endorsed for Senate with no track record, just a bunch of buzzwords like “open borders” and “woke stuff”. I think he secretly has the power of hypnosis.

There isn’t a deep bench of qualified candidates running for GOP Senate in Georgia. I’ve wondered more than once if they were losing these races on purpose. That would almost make more sense. Ossoff is Georgia Beto and Dooley would probably eat him alive in a debate.

i have always blamed his Dad, Vince for the failures he had here. His Mom was here quite often praising Precious. Vince never showed up, or said a word. He must have hated UT with a passion & praised his son for destroying a once proud program. And I have hated UGA since i took my first breath.
