Glad I left Georgia... [Derek Dooley running for US Senate]

The Republican primary for this will be very interesting. Buddy Carter and (especially) Mike Collins are both veteran politicians who have a lot of in-state name recognition and are super-aligned with Trump. Collins in particular is pretty well-known for his shitposting on Twitter.

Obviously the 3 years he was our coach were pretty miserable but he always seemed to be an outstanding human being who cared for his players. The story of what Dooley did for Daniel Hood was one that I think got a thread on this board not too long ago.

This guy had a losing record at La. Tech and somehow got hired to be an SEC football coach. Now he’s being endorsed for Senate with no track record, just a bunch of buzzwords like “open borders” and “woke stuff”. I think he secretly has the power of hypnosis.

There isn’t a deep bench of qualified candidates running for GOP Senate in Georgia. I’ve wondered more than once if they were losing these races on purpose. That would almost make more sense. Ossoff is Georgia Beto and Dooley would probably eat him alive in a debate.

i have always blamed his Dad, Vince for the failures he had here. His Mom was here quite often praising Precious. Vince never showed up, or said a word. He must have hated UT with a passion & praised his son for destroying a once proud program. And I have hated UGA since i took my first breath.

I like how at the age of 57 the only tangible good thing he says about himself in that video is who his dad was.

Dude's spent his entire life riding his dad's coattails, guess I shouldn't be surprised.

I could be completely wrong but I believe yes, he or at least the admin when DD was coach, set up the VFL program at that time.

Out of all the coaches after Fulmer, Dooley was never someone I HATED, he just got put into a place he wasnt ready for because we got dropped in the honeymoon with a very immature Kiffin.

I dont know if he knows jack squat about anything related to congress but then, Ossof certainly doesnt. Besides, Senators are not expected to know things, like house members are, thats what Senate staff are for. Senators need to manage experts and make decisions moreso than housemembers.
They tried to get Hershel Walker elected to the Senate in the last election and he failed. They seem to think that any one connected to Georgia football can and should be elected to the Senate. I worked in Alabama a couple of years ago and you seen what they got.

Other than not signing any offensive linemen, knowing how many men are on the field at any one time, and being certain that good hand-washing needed to be utmost in his teams mind-he would be a perfect senator for Georgia.

In my 25+ years of watching sports, I have never seen a collective group of players say (without saying) “**** this guy, we want nothing to do with him, please let us go home.” like the 2011 Vols did against Kentucky. It’s the most pathetic display in Vol football history and y’all are way too quick to forgive because he said britches once time.

Screw him forever
