Gillespie is out

Well let’s see...Guillespie was in charge of managing the following players:

- Jalen Hurd. Great talent, but turned to the dark side. He started causing problems with not practicing, dictating what his role should be, causing dissension, etc....

- Alvin Kamara. NFL Rookie of Year. Was used in wrong role and greatly underutilized. Alvin quote: “s@#$ was *”$@$# up.

- John Kelly - Great talent. Turned to the dark side with off the field issues and unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.

So how well was this position managed?

Couldn't have typed this up any better. :good!:

I can understand the potential Weinke hire for the IMG connection, but I agree with most that it would not make much sense in actually coaching RB's.

Why not? It's football. It is not rocket science. Just because Weinke played QB doesnt mean he can't coach other positions.

I will trust Pruitt on this. We are talking about a defensive coach that actually recruited 5* RB Derrick Henry and 5* RB TJ Yeldon. Both higher rated than any RB Gillespie has signed by 247 composite. I like Gillespie but if he isn't a fit with the staff he needs to go. I wish him well.

just read an article that Coach Pruitt stated that to go forward in a positive way "stale" mindsets had to change...meaning apparently Coach Gillespie...well, alrighty then...we'll see...and,

GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As being reported by GridironNow, if Pruitt brings in Weinke to coach our RBs, what would be your reaction? I think that is a move similar to Canales coaching our QBs. It just does not make sense. However, I also think Pruitt is smarter than that and will get us a quality replacement. A lot of great RB coaches in the ranks that are not making what RG was at Tennessee.

I'm all about screwing UGA out of their RB coach by offering him a significant raise.

Some times employees just don't mesh with a new boss. Happened to me in my last job and I ended up in a much better place. He won't struggle to find another gig

Not a big deal imo.

CRG is an outstanding running backs coach, and soon Tennessee will have another outstanding running backs coach. By Doug Mathews’ account just now on 104.5 the Zone in Nashville, he wasn’t particularly surprised, thinks it was likely CRG’s decision and that he likely already knows where he’s headed. He too thinks that while CRG was very good here, that it won’t be very difficult to replace a running backs coach who can recruit here.

Thanks Coach G and good luck!

Ditto this.

I was just testing you to see if you were paying attention....🤥

Much success.

RBs don’t require a lot of coaching. Find the best recruiter available regardless of position and hire him. If he believes it’s Weinke, to with weinke. He was the head coach at the nation’s single best high school football program (IMG). So he obviously has great recruiting ties

Any chance a position for Probst just opened up and it would be “legal” since it happened after signing day?

Spin this any way you want but it only places a negative light on the program, especially after December's coaching debacle.

.....or maybe it's because he "whiffed" on several RBs he was (and has been) after for a while. He didn't have the excuse of "new to UT"......and with Kamara tearing it up in the NFL...how much more "pro-cred" can he get? And still....

....maybe CJP said, "Wait a minute, you've been recruiting these guys (or should have been) to UT for how many years....and your new head coach was very recently a national championship winning DC...and that's a problem in the eyes of your recruits? GTFO".

Sounds to me like NSD was a litmus test for Gilliespie

Good point. Top recruits come on most coaches radar by their sophomore year if not earlier . '18 recruiting started in '15, this gets overlooked sometimes.
